OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

People asking if he’s vaxxed in the replies obviously don’t know much about the 80’s Mets lol. I hope he recovers well. It’s sad that Doc never cleaned up and still has issues to this day.

I’ve said it elsewhere but my late uncle and Mookie Wilson played at the same JUCO in Spartanburg, and were friends. Because of that and the inside stories I was raised on, I’ve always had this kind of movie like view of the 86 Mets.

Tuned into the ending of the WKU - Austin Peay game…shaky camera, horrible knock off ESPN scorebug, almost no one in attendance, announcer they probably pulled out of the journalism school

*chef’s kiss*

That, in a nutshell, is exactly why I keep and love ESPN+.

I've watched more low production quality, sub .500, random college and/or west coast baseball than any human should consume.

For the more connected and knowledgeable folks on this board! Do we have the arm strength on the pitching staff to hang with the big boys this year? I watch a lot due to the local COMCAST SECN+ offerings, but just can't compare last year's staff to this year's staff? Obviously miss the big guy who went east a bit, and a ton of other experience left as well, but that does not rule out some younger guys being ABLE to step up as the season progresses. What say the more informed? How do we stack up with the rest of the SEC?
I'm not one of the more informed, but I anticipate we will have very good pitching this year. We will know all the names well by the end of the season.

Ain’t no way anybody gets this, not even @OldTimer

Name the ballpark

I'm not positive but it looks like the Ashville Tourist ballpark. I've been to many games there, the roof structure looks similar, and the backdrop is similar as it sits in a bowl-type setting. I do not feel good about it, but it's my best guess.........

That's my guess too. McCorkmick field.

Read about it in Ryan McGee's book about working in minor league ball. (Worth looking at if you haven't).

I would have felt better if it wasn’t your first guess.
But you got it right.
Amazing,
