No, that’s the face of someone who knows she doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing, and that she’s doing a huge disservice to Pat’s legacy. Pat would puke if she saw that one of her former players choked away a win like that against the best team in the country.
Pat would puke if she saw we weren't one of the best teams in the country......

He's missing a ton of layups too. He just looks bad this year.

But ya if he gets hot and pulls his weight we could win it all. Just need any 1 other shooter besides DK to have a good night every night and we can win it all. Aidoo and DK can't be the only two.

Yep, DK (especially getting to play for the first post season of his career) is going to leave everything out there. Aidoo and ZZ will get theirs too, they've had very good 3rd years overall. So we need a 4th guy to step up and just punish teams for trying to focus on DK outside. Santi, JJJ, Gainey, or Mashack... just someone else to come in knock down a few 3s and make their shots at the rim.

All 4 of those guys have shown us they can do it, hell all 4 of them have had killer games this year even.

JJJ dropped 26 at Rupp, 23 vs NC State, and 20 at UNC.
Gainey put 18 on LSU, 17 at Arkansas, and even 15 against Purdue & Bama
Santi put 21 on Kansas
Mashack hasn't really had a break out night... a few where he hit 10+ but last year he scored 16 at Rupp and had a pair of games going for 14

So we know and have seen all of them do it, now is the time men! I'd be following DK into the gym when he goes takes his extra shots if I was Santi.

I told the guys at work, back before Christmas, that UCONN is the best team in the NCAA this season.

Houston is great too and really fun to watch. Kelvin Sampson can flat out coach.

If I was ranking teams off what I've seen this season, I would put us 3rd and Purdue 4th.

*to clarify, we can win the whole enchilada, but our inconsistencies on offense is worrisome

I’m not a Rick hater nor think he’s the best thing since Wooden… but he’s done a good job this season. Team will be fine when Santi and JJJ decide to consistently hit shots for a few games come tournament time. Credit Kentucky… Cal has changed up his style of play and has recruited multiple elite shooters. They’re so hard to defend its ridiculous

On the flip side one could argue she out coached the best women’s coach in the nation for 99.99% of the game

Umm...what?

The 4th quarter South Carolina seemed to stop playing. They were up 60-48 going into it and probably didn't expect the Lady Vols to have anything left. The final inbound had 2 major issues, no on ball defender and no one on the shooter to even make the shot a bit rushed or contested.

Even if it's the players being lazy it's still ultimately on the coach for not fixing it. Because there had just been a called foul and a sub or a brief timeout was available to coach up the team. Staley took advantage and they got a wide open look that ended up winning them the game.

A decent defended inbounds probably results in “no shot” a good percentage of the time. It’s so difficult for a guarded inbounder at half court to get the ball to a defended player in a good position and her get a good look with 1.1 seconds left.

I agree they shouldn’t have fouled, but it probably dropped their win chances from like 99.9% to 99.5%, if a defense was competently set up.

"No shot" with 1.1 as opposed to a forced tip shot (.3 seconds) means you deflect it or steal. As long as they catch it, they can get it off easily.

Let's say we deflect it a whopping 50% of the time, which would be crazy to begin with.

And assume they only get the worst shot possible...a well guarded 3.

Still 10% to lose probably.

Vs .01%.

And even IF it was 99.9% vs 99.5%...TAKE THE 99.9%!!!! Why not?!?

There's literally nothing good to come from deciding to foul on an impossible shot. It's just inane.

This isn't the NBA...with a head-on 45 or whatever foot half-court shot vs Steph Curry. It's a ~60-70 footer with a college girl on the run in a frenzy. Just let'er air ball it 😑😑😑

After Knecht leaves ,Barnes will have to find shooters in the portal. That is what hurts this team right now. If Knecht has an off night Tn struggles to find shooters.

Let those teams play our schedule…

Ok what I saw on TV was no timeouts.

- I played basketball, I know basketball 🤣 I admit I don't know football...but I know bball.

- You're telling me what is the distance of nearly a 3/4 court shot...from a female college basketball player...not named Caitlin Clark is 10% or better? 🤣

- You think a catch and shoot is less than 1%? 🤣

I literally imagined them just catching it down low with their tallest player and either potentially getting fouled or hitting a layup. SO many things can go wrong. At worst for them - they end up with a well-guarded 3. Is that below a 1% chance? Hell nah.

Whether you want to admit it or not, AWFUL coaching (or player) decision to foul IF you just look at the odds.

It's simple math. Don't overthink it.
I played basketball competitively until I was almost 50. Quit when I tore an Achilles.

I would take my chances throwing it in from half court with 1.1 seconds everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. All they had to do was guard. If I were coaching, I'd have won that game 10 out of 10 times. That foul disrupted them.

Just got home and saw the score. That box score is ugly other than knecht and ZZ. Viscovi was 0-5?

Then again, we may face them again and have more of an edge.

So Dawns plan was to have a girl that hasn’t made a three in four years of college to bank in a long three…. sounds like she got lucky…. sometime things like that happen.
I agree with you but Wayne Chism did bank in half of his 3s. It was unreal. Your point still stands though.

I had a patient who told me that she had given birt to a 10 lb baby, passed a huge kidney stone, and had a hip dislocation at different times in her life.

She said that the would rather deliver the baby and pass the kidney stone simultaneously rather than experience the hip dislocation pain again. 😳
Fortunately I have a high tolerance for pain. I worked for over a year on a collapsed hip on my dominant side until surgery was viable for me. When I finally was able to go through the surgery, the surgery team told my son through out that I was one strong person because I refused pain meds and pushed myself to walk to be able to go home as soon as I woke up (time was fluid during that time). I was mostly pissed off during the birth of my son because the doctor on call had the nurses turn on the AK bb game and kept his eyes on the screen while I was in labor.

She did get lucky, but there’s still no logic in leaving anyone that wide open with just a second remaining. Maybe she still makes it if we contest the shot. If so, hats off to her. I don’t think she would have, though.

He wasn't off tonight. And he got some help. Not enough.

Today, actually, was about not being able to get stops. Which is an anomaly for Barnes teams generally and this team in particular.

So I won't react too much. We made a bunch of plays, but we left too many in the floor too. Free throws, missed some wide open looks....

Rivalry game. We win there, they win here.
