I'll admit, I didn't realize it was the same case. I'm a big believer in due process working the majority of the time (even if the outliers are the ones that get talked about the most). It’s the same situation. You accept the Not Guilty verdict but refer to the debunked complainant as a “sexual assault” victim. That was his girlfriend.
The true details are a lil murky. Did Butch leak it to the rest of the team after telling Bowles to stay hush hush because the team would think he was a traitor? Or did AJ’s buddies find out on their own as it is so easy to do on a college campus? I lean towards the latter and Bowles didn’t help himself by telling a different story to the police than he did testifying during the lawsuit. Kind of a “were you lying THEN or are you lying NOW” debacle.I'll admit, I didn't realize it was the same case. I still don't think Butch's treatment of Drae Bowles was the right way to handle it. Bowles dad was a policeman, Bowles knew what the process was and he was willing to believe someone that was telling him she was a victim. Ultimately, Drae needed to be protected here as he did a very courageous thing by doing what he thought was right.
I agree, Drae did himself no favors publicly. I don't think the culture of a team should be "We protect our own at all costs and handle discipline internally."The true details are a lil murky.
