2024 Presidential Race

Trump willfully handed covid over to Fauci. Putting Trump back in office would do nothing to move the country forward. He's not a leader and his 4 years would be a nightmare

The gop needs to figure out how to remove him if they are serious.

Both parties are helpless.

Democrats don't have anyone but Joe Biden and he isn't stepping down.

Republicans tried to run solid candidates against Trump (Desantis and Haley) but they were extremely unpopular. Frankly, they could have Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan run against Trump right now and Trump would still win. There is just too much support for him in the Republican party.

We are likely getting Trump 2.0... it is depressing to think about. No matter who wins, we are likely in trouble. With the media and the American people/culture setup the way it is, I don't think we could elect a solid candidate.

DeSantis and Haley are solid candidates? Seriously?

What was he supposed to do? Stop relying on expert?

They were supposed to be... in theory, Haley isn't that much different from past Republicans like George Bush Jr or Mitt Romney. Both of them wouldn't see the light of day as well.

Haley kind of surprised me because I never thought she was a serious candidate from the start and I thought she was gunning for Trump's VP spot. The mainstream Republican media got behind her though. Why she is still in the race boggles my mind.

He wants the votes. Then again, there are several people out there including the blogger whatifalthist and Ben Shapiro who don't claim to be Christians but advocate Christian positions because that ties more into an American ideal in the past they think we should bring back.

I think it is more that some people want ideals like:

1. Slow down of sleeping around outside of marriage and restoring marriage
2. Greater accountability for people making wrong decisions
3. To be fair, a lot of MAGA and Christianity is hostile to LGBT causes
4. Focus on a family-oriented cultural norm

Ironically, this has been common throughout history. We find writing after writing in Rome from pretty much every generation about how Rome lost its ideals and needs to return to a golden age of the past. Basically a Make Rome Great Again argument. Every civilization goes through this and there is some truth. Societies that are honest, family-oriented, more virtuous, more prudent, etc. tend to prosper while societies that are more materialistic, selfish, and sexually excessive tend to decline.

However, I am not sure if Trump is really about this or just about getting that vote. I think Trump somewhat believes, in his mindset, that America lost its way and in MAGA. The guy could make more money not being in politics but he seems all over the place and frankly, I don't see as much in common with MAGA fans and Trump on beliefs.

Trump and MAGA should NEVER have been a thing in the first place and frankly, to me, is a backlash (although an immature one) to current problems in our government and society. An early Southpark Episode about Mr. Garrison running for President as a representative of Trump hit it on the mark.

Except in this south park episode - it is Biden that is turning America into the wasteland.

Trump really does believe personally in American nationalism. His Christian faith would be a new thing since when we dealt with him. I have associates who worked with him closely, however, and my take is that while I am not sure what his personal faith is (besides himself), he thinks the general morals of traditional Christianity have been good for America and help make it strong, even if he doesnt always follow those himself personally.

That is a problem for me, and one for Christianity in the larger picture. Just too many out there who profess to have faith and to adhere to those values, but they do it to gain something, be it money, sex, fame, or in this case political power. I think it hurts Christianity over the long haul to have people saying the "right thing" but then in real life doing the exact opposite.

What's worse is his denials of his shortcomings. To sin is inevitable, to claim to never sin and to lie and cover it up when you do, just to gain in this world,is offensive.

Yes, if he doesn't agree with the message being put out by the "expert" then he should change. He didn't need to keep handing him the mic to deliver his advice from behind the potus seal
He couldn't fire him, he couldn't be removed solely by Trump.. which mean regardless of his time in front of the microphone Faccu still would influenced policy from behind bvb the scenes...

I didn't say fire I said remove him from the public stage. Once gone Trump should have said all info from the admin runs thru Pence's team only and Fauci is to report thru that official channel. Control the narrative instead of allowing Birx and Fauci to run wild.

I disagree. Except that I do agree with your Fauci comment. I'd still like to see that prick hanged with a piano wire Maybe we can leave it at that. Regardless, he won't be anywhere near the failure that another 4 years of progressivism will be.

This has always been the most damaging thing to those who really desire to follow Christ. How we've managed to foul up a faith where the most important command is to love God with all you have, and in a very close second of importance, is love people as you love yourself is unfathomable.

Tulsi is sounding smarter these days. She should be considered for a cabinet position in a Trump Administration. You have to include some voices who disagree with you but are also trusted with your best interest. Tulsi is the type of dissenter you want. She is not a fringe nutcase.
She's not fringe, she's full blown.

Exactly. Let's be candid: The GOP is CHOCK FULL of crackpots and crazies these days. SERIOUSLY. Most of them are genuine half-wits
with little education, little integrity.
While I won't dispute your comments about GOP membership, Tulsi was a Democrat until two years ago. She was a nut well before she switched parties.

Tulsi isn't in the GOP, but nice try. At least she was smart enough to distance herself from the abomination that is the leftist democrat party. You've now repeated yourself over 6000 times with the same, tired, lazy, unoriginal thought.

Nothing about Covid was reasonable...

I should have clarified, based on what he was told by experts and his advisors. And I do believe all of them acted in good faith. In retrospect, I think we can all agree that resources should have been focused differently, i.e. to certain more vulnerable populations. But that's 20/20.

Really. And we currently have a dementia patient who is the biggest traitor in American history in the White House. Please tell me you feel the same way about the Democrats.
