Me personally, I don't believe Stephens could start for anybody in division I football. He might as well finish his career at UT, and maybe try to beg Kiffin for grad asst, but Kiffin wont do it anyway, so NIck, hope u got a good education.
I think we are all being overly harsh on both Nick and JC. Both were rated high coming out of HS, and they've been screwed with having to learn 4 different offenses already. If there had been some degree of continuity, both likely would be in much better shape. I thought a lot of Clawson last year...but have come to realize that his overly complex offense was just a disaster in the making...flipping lineman all the time..the 1st yr in?Me personally, I don't believe Stephens could start for anybody in division I football. Who is the competition for Newton here?
I thought I heard MSU mentioned and Mullen was the O-coordiator at UF. Maybe they are going to hook up again?
MSU seems to be the only other school We are competing with for Newton...Please remember however it IS Mississippi St and they won't be competing for any SEC titles anytime in the near future.
He'll use up his eligibilty by 2011. When do you see UT making a serious run at the SEC crown. Especially in light of your OL depth issues.
You know, I don't understand what that means...I hear analysts say that, but how in the world do you quantify those remarks?
Either the kid has the goods or they don't. How in the world do you gauge how much potential one has to develop? You don't, IMHO.
With Scroggins, you're talking about the added dynamic that he can hurt an opponent running with the ball when the play starts to break down. If that's what they are referring to, sure...but why not just say it that way instead of using some dubious analyst jargon?

In 2011 the Vols will make a serious run at more than just the SEC crown...
The OL will we loaded with talent and experience (Douglas, Hood, Pope, Thomas, Schofield, Revis, Jose)
Marve will be a Senior QB in his 3rd year in Kiffin's system...
the Vols will have the best backfield in the nation (Bryce, Williams, Oku)...
the WRs will be solid (Nuke, Teague, Green) the DBs are gonna be top 5 in the nation (Wilks, Waggner, Evans, Raines, Fleming, Janzen, Myles Jr.,Edwards, Gordon, Oliver)...
The LBs are gonna be loaded (Lathers, Donald, Askew, Mitchell-Thornton, King, Hawkins, Nelson, maybe Moody)...
It will be extremely hard for anyone to run up the middle on UT with Broussard, Jeffrey, Walls and Hughes in the middle combined with a couple of JUCOs like James Carmon and John Brown...
DE might be the weakest spot fot UT with Bohannon, Fowlkes, and Sykes. Younger players like Jacques Smith will have to step up big...
I only counted the current 2010 commits in this as well, but there are gonna be some more 2010 signees who will have a big impact on the Vols success in 2011...

I think the issues for UT will be on the offensive side of the ball, specifically the OL. This recruiting class is incredibly important for UT. (They all are, but this one even more so.). You'll need a deep OL class.
