Recruiting Football Talk VII

I've seen the same. Every fanbase believes the same things.

I've even stumbled upon a European soccer forum before...I swear the posts were word for word the same about the conspiracies against their team. No doubt fandom imparts a level of tribalism, but then it waves into paranoia for some.

Which isn't to say it's always wrong... I have no doubt there's a team or a couple in each sport that have burned the wrong bridges and gained the ire of the wrong people for a period of time...but when every single team claims it...it becomes comical. And every one thinks they're situation is unique in some way and it's been happening to them since time immemorial...and their good old eyeballs and disinterested instincts tell them so. Feels familiar to other incarnations of us vs them dogmatism.
So you’re saying that there are only a few teams that have paid players through the years…the NCAA has gone after all them….and GA managed to do what AL did with those insane recruiting classes because KS is so darn cute? 🤔😉😇😇😇😂

Have you seen the garbage strewn-derelict scum infested 💩hole that Seattle has become? Put a 💩hole in the middle of the most beautiful place...and it is still a 💩hole.

I always wanted to see LA and especially San Fran....but I couldn't wait to get out once I got there...of course there are enclaves, but why anybody wants to live with that all around them is beyond me.
The pacific northwest is beautiful. Guess you went down the slum streets.

Which is literally all Tuscaloosa is...

With a straight face.

DeBoer is a former OC and folks just assume he's the guy behind that offense like Heupel is at UT...but the only example I'm aware of that we can look at DeBoer's success as an OC is at Indiana. He was solid but nowhere near elite. Maybe it's wishful thinking that Grubb was THE key figure in the offenses at Fresno State and Washington, but I think he probably was. I think it was almost a given that Alabama's offense would be strong under Grubb...now there's at least going to be a tougher transition to a new offense and more growing pains.
DeBoer was also an OC at Sioux Falls for 4 years before taking over as HC, and 6 years after Sioux Falls. Can’t find much stats on the offense from 2000-2004 but when he took over as HC at Sioux Falls he didn’t have Grubb for 3 years and still won a NC and only had 1-2 losses over that period of time. Grubb was hired as an assistant and wasn’t an OC during his time there with DeBoer. He stayed for 3 years as OC when DeBoer left to be OC at Southern Illinois, and then after those 3 years he left to follow DeBoer to Eastern Michigan as an assistant coach when DeBoer was hired as an OC there. Grubb wasn’t an OC again until 2019 with DeBoer at Fresno State.

During the 6 years DeBoer was an OC after Sioux Falls, his offenses were still really good. I can’t find a lot of stats but i saw on former write ups at those schools that he set some offensive records at those schools while OC. So, still good.

I think the best way to put is they are both very good offensive coaches. They both had a say in the evolution of the offense. And they both, together, are a big reason for the latest success. Now it’s time to see what they look like separate and against better completion than either has ever coached against consistently.

I think that Jere Morehead should resign his position at the NCAA because there's a conflict of interest when they are investigating UT, Florida (or any Georgia rival) over rules that are effectively illegal.
No D1 president should be the NCAA chairman.

More reason the NCAA structure (the universities are the NCAA (literal)) is dumb as hell. Imagine if the NFL president the last 20 years was Bill Belichick...

Interesting. Assuming he gave nothing on AL.
Not sure. Just a friend in the know got that piece from someone and we all laughed. I’m sure he spilled enough trying to get a lighter sentence to be able to coach in college football but not enough to really get anyone in big trouble. I’m not even sure what he told them to be honest.

I've admitted I don't know much. I've never heard of an NCAA investigation based on an anonymous phone call, but it seems like that would have to contain something concrete and at least partially verifiable, not just "they cheated"?

I also didn't know that Pruitt gave them info on UGA? Did he confess to paying players while at UGA? I know he and Mark Richt had some issues at the end.
Not sure on details. Just that he was trying to get a lighter sentence and spilled small stuff here and there. Enough to try to keep the investigators from throwing the death penalty at him but not enough to hurt his network. Same if we were looking at hard time for something.

It truly amazes me how some can put that much blind faith in an organization. Bama players throughout the years driving cars that cost as much as some people's homes and never, ever a raised eyebrow from the NCAA. Players coming out and admitting they were paid. Players ratting out other programs for offering money yet they sign with another school without getting money. I can go on and on and these people still believe it's all on the up and up. And they're people that appear to be fairly intelligent. They really don't realize how they're being led around by their noses.

Charles Davis should be the Benevolent Dictator of College Football.

The NCAA isn’t a law enforcement agency. They don’t need “probable cause.” Heck, law enforcement doesn’t need probable cause to just investigate. That’s the standard to make an arrest.

Amazes me. I’m one of the ones that really wants to believe that, and I can’t.

That's not what I said. I said it's always possible, but the NCAA needs something concrete to begin an investigation. Fans always think other teams are cheating but that's not sufficient evidence.
How about some common sense.
Pruitt offered Washington and Mims, those 2 I believe were where our investigation started. Are you really naive enough to believe they went and played at UGA for free? What about Owen Pappoe did he turn down 800k, I believe was the rumor to go to Auburn for free?
Just use a little common sense please.
