Recruiting Football Talk VII

If the AGs hadn't filed suit, the NCAA was prepared to move forward. They influenced the timeline. The NCAA is arrogant and power-hungry, but they couldn't have wanted this fight. They must have underestimated Tennessee's willingness to meet aggression with aggression instead of cooperation.

Errybody worries about recruiting with this mess in the background, but there’s a (apologies) gangsta aspect to taking on the NCAA that appeals to kids imo. Dated example is Jerry Tarkanian’s dogfights with the organization and the mass Running Rebels gear sold and recruits signed.

The ending wasn't the ending, and now it's personal. The NCAA accused the chancellor and AD of not having control over their programs. Last time, the chancellor was cleaning up someone else's mess-- someone her internal investigation indicated had committed violations. This time, the NCAA said it happened on her watch and she is culpable. It's one thing to accuse someone you think is a rogue of running a rogue program-- now they're casting blame on her, Danny White and multiple coaches who put great effort in running clean programs. So this is a stand-your-ground situation.

My dumb arse take is the NCAA picked us because they thought we'd bend over again, didn't realize how much we have our 'ish together as a University and collective, had no idea our Chancellor and Co would come back scorched earth, are currently reeling/surprised/embarrassed, and are going to fade away on this...

I do think if their council is above board and better than average, they'll be advised after seeing our fire, to just back off...No way is Nico going to sit/be ineligible this fall based on their wanting to change rules after the fact... Legal arguments will cement this. And after what we saw from Donde and Danny out of the gate, we aren't paying any fines or implementing/self-imposing any penalties from this moving forward.

The only thing the NCAA will get from this is a lot of debt from billing hours, embarrassment, realizing they may be a thing of the past, knowing other schools and players are on deck with legal council and lawsuits, and will have only accomplished a short term strain on our recruiting... Heck, it may backfire on them and parents will see how we run things and stand up/protect our student athletes and push their kids our way!

Do you play with all of those toys in the photo?
Yes, my Son and I play Thomas the Train together.

He loves it. And frankly, I do too. The Labrador like to sit on top of me though so it can be a bit cumbersome.

I was a big Lego dork, and always enjoyed trainsets. My son maaaay have the Thomas collection to end all Thomas collections😁

Softball starts tomorrow. Vols are ranked #2 behind Okla-- maybe a bit optimistic without Ashley Rogers but it's a great group and it should be a fun season.
This is another reason I'm not psyched about OK and TX joining the conference... In softball, you know have added another national powerhouse in OK to an already crazy competitive SEC... We usually didn't have to deal with OK until much later in the tourney, but now they're on our regular season and SEC championship schedule... crazy.

That’s my take too.

We should hire seedy PIs to investigate individual high-ranking NCAA officials and dig up dirt we can use against them. Maybe the new President has a problem with hookers and blow?
I wish that we could flip it on the NCAA and they had to release all their email and phone records. I'd be very curious to see who has been talking to them and what they've decided to ignore vs. pursue.

Not sure why anyone tries to engage with that hate filled guy. It’s non stop spewing hatred. He has been doing it so long people just tolerate it for some reason.
I think he's a pretty good guy. I don't want to speak out of turn, but I believe I've picked up on something from his postings. I believe he's alluded to the fact that he's carrying some physiological traits as the aftermath from some of his historical chemical choices that can lead to him coming in guns blazing at times.

If that's the case, I think I can show some patience.

If it's not the case, my apologies to @Ulysees E. McGill for misremembering and misrepresenting. (And I can still show some patience.)

UT had been around this block with baseball and Maui Ahuna. The NCAA isn't transparent, they cherrypick programs and players for selective enforcement and they overstep while doing it.
In your opinion, how do you think some schools (UNCs, UGAs and Bamas of the world) evade the selective enforcement? Do you think these schools are simply better at lobbying or is it more sinister ?

Considering how some schools seem to evade selective enforcement and how the officiating was so skewed against us this year in football, I find it extremely hard to remove the tin hat.
