I once heard a guy say that if he had a huge bad-*** in his face, and he knew he'd get mauled if it got to "fight" stage, he'd kiss the guy right on the mouth and back away. He said it usually shocked and grossed them out so bad they back off.

Odd thought, but I know he believed he was about to get mauled.

So, once again, their argument boils down to, "We want amateurism and free market NIL will destroy it", when that's specifically what Kavanaugh hinted will get them murdered by the SCOTUS.

Kavanaugh said,

"Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate,"... "And under ordinary principles of antitrust law, it is not evident why college sports should be any different.

"The NCAA is not above the law."

So, the NCAA goes into a lower federal court and argues, "Yah. If you say we can't collude to limit their NIL capabilities, we'll be prevented from effectively colluding to limit their pay."

WTH are they thinking?

‘There is no reason to upend this process, invite chaos on a moment’s notice, and transform college sports’

It seems to be an appeal to tradition. This is just how we do things so don't change it.

That's your job. Give them a legal reason not to.

I am no attorney, and I haven't read everything--just snippets... But I'm not seeing a legal appeal or argument. I'm basically seeing a dog roll over and expose its belly to ask for mercy.

Pete Rose is officially banned from MLB Hall of Fame voting...............

NEW YORK —
Pete Rose, kicked out of baseball because of his gambling, today was banned from the Hall of Fame when a rule was adopted to exclude players on the permanently ineligible list.

Rose, the all-time hits leader, is the only living person on the ineligible list.

The Hall’s board of directors voted 12 to 0 to accept the proposal, which was presented last month by a special committee.

“The directors felt that it would be incongruous to have a person who has been declared ineligible by baseball to be eligible for baseball’s highest honor,” Hall of Fame President Ed Stack said. “It follows that if such individual is reinstated by baseball, then such individual would be a candidate for election.”
