I admit I didn't read it through. I @'d you on a different post about Birmingham being in real time communication with crews during games. Have you seen anything more on that?
Not in a while. It would have to go through the replay official, but ever since Mike Pereira publicly roasted them for it years ago, I haven't seen anything else on it. Theoretically not allowed at all.

But really, any directives given to the officials would be given before the game, not during.

Conference champions from ACC, SEC , Big 20 and Big 12 ...get 1st round buys ..
....the biggest reason though is Money....
It will be interesting to see if the committee dings the losing team in conference title games for the extra L. They shouldn't but you could see a situation where a 2 loss SEC team plays in Atlanta and gets a third L and then is kept out.

They should say they won't count losses in conference championship games against the teams playing in the games.

Have you ever considered that if the divisions were to be maintained, Bama and Auburn would have moved to the Eastern Division unless Sankey pulled some sort of anti-geographic gerrymandering?

That would have resulting in Bama playing Georgia every year and vice versa. It would not have affected Tennessee or Auburn.
I’m confused how my original response established me as the poster child for never playing Bama and UGA in the same season. Was simply reminiscing that when UGA plastered us in 88 we hadn’t played them in years.

I really think it's something systemic. Maybe travel in a day earlier? Figure out how to replicate your home routine on the road? I've never seen a more stark difference in a team at home vs on the road in football. Even last year with better players, we looked like a different team on the road.

Folks need to look back.

2021 we were the #1 road offense in the conference. 2022 we were #4, but a good season for road offenses (would've been good for #2 in 2021)

This year's road games have been been unusual, not the norm people are making jt to be. And ffs please no one bring up the lone 2022 anomaly vs "got yer playsheet while you play in quicksand vs our 1" cleats" BS.

I seem to recall seeing something in the past week claiming that Birmingham's head of officiating participates remotely, but I don't remember where I saw it. It has been my impression for many years that is the case. But I don't know.

I saw that. Sad to read about the team. You know they must feel betrayed even if they understand the money and bigger league.

People who go off on players for NIL, portal, etc., need to realize the players are imitating their coaches, school administrators, the TV networks, and basically the whole of what both pop and business culture praise to the hilt.
Absolutely, you’re an idiot if you dog these players for jumping ship trying to find better oppurtunity. “Kids these days have no loyalty/integrity” Bull 💩They’re just following the lead of their multi millionaire coaches!!!!

I think the new schedule in the long term is going to benefit us and the program. I know next year is a stop gap year where we still play both Georgia and Alabama, but that won’t be the case soon.

I do not care about facing “our rivals” every single season. Keeping Alabama on our schedule is the only rivalry I truly want to protect, although I am disappointed the Florida game won’t be annual. I’m fine with Georgia going away. Time for some new blood in our schedule and better balance compared to the rest of the SEC.

No, I didn't think that at all. I was randomly tacking on something related. Shouldn't have quoted, sorry.

I’m still so damn confused how you can win by 24 points (almost cover spread but took all starters out) and still drop more than 4 spots in the AP? I know the AP doesn’t matter anymore but still…what?
Because we didn't(?)

We were 25th in the AP. Maybe thinking of the CFP where we were 21st.

We gained votes but SMU jumped us. Fwiw we were 25th the week prior by all of 3 votes. A few teams actually got jumped.

Not that any of it matters because CFP rankings are all that matter and we either win our bowl and finish ranked or we lose and don't.
