South Carolina mods saying them and Tennessee are in on Jalen Travis. All-Ivy OT.

This is a good who is in the portal post. Has some actual information that is relevant. Thank you for posting it.

I think he is saying that we should view ourselves like Bama and UGA and not among the others. Which would mean we should expect more than 8 win seasons every year.
Doesn't everyone on this board (except one guy) already hold that view? I don't get acting like it is a news flash and -- especially -- using it as an excuse or cover to sh-- all over things at every opportunity and enact one's anger over and again. It's fraudulent to claim that behavior is the logical result of high standards, imo.

I still haven’t stopped shaking my head at Auburn letting Milroe camp out in the pocket and then letting Bond catch that pass.
I swear the receiver moves early before the ball is snapped too. Maybe it’s just me.

But no way should you only rush two and spy a QB who has to run thirty yards to score anyways.

I wish that we were more like those programs. I think all of the fans want that.

We're only looking at the tip of the iceberg when we compare ourselves vs the programs at the very top of the sport today - what is happening on the field. There are so many things happening off the field and behind the scenes at those programs that make everything on the field tremendous.

There are currently like 20 programs that have all of the buy-in and want-to that Tennessee has.

There are around 10-12 programs that have all of the history that Tennessee has.

There are less than 5 programs that have everything together. We're trending towards having a lot of things together to be great again. We all hope we're lining everything up to be successful. But it takes years upon years of so much working correctly, and working in sync.

I think we all know those thing. But I feel the need to reiterate them when I read some of these posts on here.

As a program, we basically beat pneumonia yesterday, and we have fans that want us to win the New York Marathon tomorrow.
I agree with you. 8-4 should be a good season for this year after what we lost and having Milton as our QB. We are also in year three of a rebuild.

But by year five and all engines flowing in one direction, an eight win season could be argued as not doing that well if we are trying to get back to dominance.

I suppose Freeze doesn't call defenses but how could he not be in the loop on the earphones and not overrule that with a giant "Oh hell no"? It reminds me of Butch v FL '15 when I had given him a second chance after miraculously losing to Okla, and was thereafter done with him.

the collectives cannot incentivize like this

the fans can incentivize indirectly buy buying those players' merch (jerseys, autographed memorabilia, Nico pajamas, Squirrel toys, whatever else) whenever they have a great game.

I don't even know if I love the individual deals. My favorite NIL deal is the Texas OL one where they all get a cut. It incentivizes more elite OL to go to Texas because they know they're all going to get a cut of something huge, and it holds them accountable as a unit. I wish we had some OL deal sponsored by Calhoun's or Pilot or whoever else. Load that thing up and it would solve a lot of our problems.
I wasn't suggesting incentives. I was suggesting just a marketing technique for the Vol Club to brag about the athletes that they had already signed to deals by showing their on-field success. Each summer/fall I see Vol Club twitter posts that they "signed X player to a deal" (Jaylen Wright for example). But then I don't see any effort to associate those players with that Vol Club effort. Why not have a Vol Club twitter post reminding everyone of that summer deal after Jaylen Wright goes over 1000 yards on the season.
(example)
Remember us? We signed your favorite player Jaylen Wright to a deal back in August. Congratulations Jaylen on an amazing 1000 yard season. You can donate to the Vol Club and make marketing deals possible for next year's favorite player. Click HERE.

That would be Nico's second season, and I think everyone feels that way.

Pretty much been my argument from the start. We are closer as a program to the top 3 then we are to the others.
The big 3 don't give programs like UK, Vandy, SCAR the time of day, why should we?
Unfortunately we had a bad administration for many years and made terrible hires which put us with SC, KY, and Vandy for a decade.

Luckily that has passed and we are on the right track. We do need more time to be more like the big programs though. We are just through year three.

The nuance would be to recognize where we've been and see us building back to Bama/UGA status. It's absolutely delusional to view ourselves as at their level right now. It's also unhealthy to **** on the steps being taken to get us there because one is delusional.

So, either the person espousing that we are at the level of UGA/Bama are delusional, or they are a troll. The ones ****ing on the steps being taken to get us there are either morons or trolls.

To call them trolls is actually to give them the benefit of the doubt by not questioning their intelligence.

We have the potential, the resources, the money. It's not our fault the AD was ran by morons.
We have national titles, we are talking about teams who view a good season as going to a Janurary bowl. That is and should be the norm at Tennessee.

You need a dog. Vacuum's wasn't meant for that much skeddis. Mine are all older now, but our dachshund/beagle mix had permanent dibs on all losses from the table to the floor when our girls will little. Try and pick something up off the floor once it had hit and you were likely to lose one or more fingers and blood would be drawn at the very least.
We got us a new ray-skew this week.

When our old dog met her maker, I tode the wife, I says 'aint gettin' a dog. less its a big, silly male chocolate lab. better he trained too.'

He's trained, to sit on my couch. And nuzzle my hand for scratches on the ear.

Such a good boy.

Not sure who the one guy you had in mind is, but I don’t hold that view. I don’t think Tennessee will ever produce seasons like what Bama and Georgia have done the last decade or so (i.e., multiple national titles in a short period of time).

I see Tennessee as closer to LSU and Auburn. Inconsistent year-to-year, but capable of landing good enough talent to be in the conversation and periodically win titles.

I submit the last 50 years of Vol football as evidence in support of my position.

FWIW

You were and are the guy I was referring to! Good catch. 😂 I thought it might be rude to single you out by name. And no offense intended. And the last four words of your second paragraph makes you sound a little more optimistic than I recall. GBO!
