He is not a great coach. Was born in mid-slide diving across home plate. Yet he is still levitating in that slow motion slide. He would not be elite coaching on a level playing field in the SEC.

TAMU keeps seeing playoff/championship and seeking its coaches that way. They're about to repeat the same mistake. Success at FSU or tOSU is an entirely different thing than success at a middling program in the SEC and until TAMU shows otherwise that's what they are despite their money. What TAMU needs is someone that can win anywhere. Not someone that wins because they out talent everyone. Sure, Kirby is reproducing the Saban model at UGA but I don't think Kirby does what he's been able to do had he not walked into UGA when the bottom of the SEC East was fighting for the top spot. He never gets a chance to do that if UT and UF are rolling rather than dysfunctional. And TAMU has never owned their own territory - they share it with Texas and every other school that recruits the state.
