Tobe Awake does what you are asking. He's just undersized.

Not going to blame them for looking timid in the paint against Edey. It's just hard to deal with him.

I do think the one thing we are missing is a true physical big guy. We actually missed Uros against Edey. But you want a physical 6'10+ big on your team if you can get one.
and we dont.

That's on coaches for not being able to find or develop these bigs. I mean, Uros was really a liability in most games.

You're telling me a top ten team annually cannot go into the portal and find a competent PF? And, another thing. We keep combing for shooters, and we seem to find bricks.

Again, Purdue was good defensively. But, not so good that we shouldnt or couldnt be making more shots. That was a winneable game.

It was game 5 of the season and the Vols are ranked in the top 10.

Why are you whining so much?

Discussing a game that happened last night, is whining? Perhaps we should discuss the 5 game parlay?

Ok, Ill get back to officiating conspiracies.

@InVOLuntary they sounded like traffic cops directing NY Traffic out there last night.

Who thinks Milton will play a few series, til halftime or the whole game? I'm thinking til halftime, but then I feel they would want to take him out during the game so he can hear it from the crowd but then I think would the crowd be cheering for him or cheering cause Nico would be going in lol. Or do yall think they have something planned so he can hear from the crowd and know it's for him.

I'm with @drvenner on this @InVOLuntary . It's kinda the most important defensive stat.

That's like saying win-loss record doesn't matter it's about how the team LOOKS that matters. PPG is important. Forcing FGs and TODs instead of TDs is important. There's two ways to do that, not allow a team to move the ball at all is preferred. The other way is bend-but-dont-break. Which can be aggravating at times and isn't as successful, but if it gets the job done and the defense is holding teams to low scoring outputs, then it's successful.
The various arguments begin to sound like "My heart just can't take this" comments when they begin denying the importance of stats in general, and scoring defense as an important defensive metric.

Refs cost us this basketball game
Refs cost us the bowl game against Purdue.

Someone please logically explain if they didn’t. Look at the calls in both games.

F em
Bowl game, sure. Even the NCAA MM game a few years ago I thought was a bad call. Either one we still may have won or lost, so it's not that simple, but the opportunity was ripped away from us I'd agree.

Watching last night I don't agree. We hit the bonus with 11 freakin minutes to go in H2 as we went dead cold. The only thing keeping us in it the 2nd half for long stretches were FTs.

We were -9 FTs vs Purdue. Yet vs Cuse we were +9. Did we win because of the refs? Hell no. I hate that excuse over a full game. Weak sauce.

When people don't understand that the NCAA is not independent oversight, but the schools themselves, orchestrating who among themselves is to be permitted to cheat with impunity, who is to be penalized lightly, and who severely, refer back to president bruh's tweet here.
President Bruh 😅🤣

Purdue shot the last 19 FT’s in the game. As someone who has officiated before, it drives me crazy how they are officiating games. So inconsistent, and they missed 2 clear out of bounds violations. It’s officiating 101.

I think there are two issues at play: the game is getting too fast for some of them and there are fundamental tools/rules that aren’t being used.

Regardless of outcome last night, it was kind of an embarrassment to the sport.

What if I play a 12 game schedule one year where I play 11 scrubs and then the prior season I played 11 teams that were offensive juggernauts?

Or you can simply watch the games and take notice that the other team literally never punts. You can watch the game an see the other team constantly converting 3rd and 1 million. Or you can keep your head in the sand and make excuses. I'll reiterate WE BEAT NO ONE!

Is the object of the game to force punts, or prevent points? By your logic, it's to force punts. You have claimed that points-allowed is irrelevant, apparently because you enjoy the sight of a nicely punted ball tumbling through the night sky.

Or... Because your heart just can't take this type of play--thus my comment.

Now, I agree with you to the extent that I would much prefer to see UT's defense force nothing but 3-and-outs. But it is absolutely ridiculous--and it undermines you as a poster--to hand-wave the most important defensive stat as unimportant compared to your desire to see a good punt.
