Did we play as tough a schedule as the rest of the SEC…. we played 3 of the top 4 offenses in the SEC and 4 of the top 6.Playing against scrubs. Last year was bad but his year was worse. That's the problem with going year to year stats. He's terrible ans will be proven to be right when it's all said and done. I just hope it doesn’t cost Huep his job.
Skip then Stephen A then Cowherd. Very scant difference between them compounded by their confidence in uttering faulty FACTS.@butchna ....most arrogant daytime sports person....Stephen A.Smith,Skip Bayless or Colin Cowherd???...rank top to bottom...
From what has been reported…. the investigation was a pretty big hindrance…. last year was really our first strong recruiting year for certain positions and this year seems to be another step forward…. i don’t know if it was a coaching issue as much as it was dealing with the situation they were dealt.Ahh so after three years it’s still a talent issue. Shouldn’t that be on the coaches to get players especially in portal day and age?
‘23 - Carter, Telander, Jalen Smith, and Caleb Herring. Telander only one not a 4* and got Pili in the portal. Also got 4*s Matthews, Gibson and Conyer, plus a couple other DBs.We did. It’s been three years. Defense still isn’t good and we haven’t recruited any difference makers at LB (except Carter) and DB so nothing will change. That’s why we need a change because we have the consistent average LBs and DBs and it’s killing us. DL will be scary good next year. And a Nico led offense will be a terror.
And how did we fair? Were the offenses we played better or worse than last year? Was FL better than last year FL? How about GA, AL? Was A&M better than LSU? It's my contention we played a tougher schedule last year. That's why you can't compare stats from one year to the next.Did we play as tough a schedule as the rest of the SEC…. we played 3 of the top 4 offenses in the SEC and 4 of the top 6.
Wasn’t comparing year to year…. i was comparing us to the rest of the SEC…. Did those teams below us play better offenses? And how did we fair? Problem is, we've seen three years with virtually no improvement. After a while the lack of personnel becomes an excuse that doesn't hunt. Players don't want to come because they don't see that they are being used properly. Is anyone on this defensive team draft worthy this year? We go on and on about how players want to see players get drafted. If it truly takes 5 years, then whether fair or not, your programmed is looked at in five years in a negative light making it more difficult to attract great players.
With posts like that, we'll allow you to come out of exile.‘23 - Carter, Telander, Jalen Smith, and Caleb Herring. Telander only one not a 4* and got Pili in the portal. Also got 4*s Matthews, Gibson and Conyer, plus a couple other DBs.
‘24 - Burns and Spillman, both 4*. Carter, Beasley, Farooq, all 4* and a couple other guys.
Don’t really how you can say we haven’t recruited difference makers. The coaches get it. The guys are freshmen or not on campus yet. That’s what happens during a rebuild from a dumpster fire. It takes time.
Also, you’re completely ignoring that we self imposed scholarship reductions, which magnifies depth issues when we have injuries. You can cry all you want about freshman not getting enough run, but having a bunch of dudes who have no clue on the backend is a quick way to get torched.
And that is the problem with the back end as well, our db’s dont execute zone properly, dont press properly. Overall our db’s and LB’s are SOFT and cant cover or hit anything. Where this falls on Banks and Martinez and the defense as a whole is it is obvious we dont hit enough in practice and dont focus on tackling in practiceOur LB's drop back into zone coverage and it looks like they run away from the WR's. I mean their ability to read, react and anticipate is glaring. They will run to complete open grass 15 yards from the LOS while a RB runs wide open. I don't know if it's primarily film study, route knowledge, or awareness that is the mostly responsible.
Keep him around, was what I inferredCan anyone please help decode @InVOLuntary's position on Tim Banks and if he feels that Timmy has or has not made sufficient progress in 3 years to avoid being farhed unceremoniously? I keep getting mixed messages and would really appreciate someone clearing up these confusing posts. TIA.
You should plop down in Heupel's office and lay out your plan for improving the secondary. I'm sure he has just been waiting for you to bring your ideas forward. In fact, by containing your valuable insights to this message board you may have caused much of the defensive heartache we experienced this year. You should be ashamed of yourself!Idk who’s decision it is personnel wise, whether its Heup, Banks, or Martinez, but the philosophy of play older guys to let younger guys “develop” is hurting more than it is helping in the secondary. Our safeties cant cover and are scared to hit, our cb’s cant cover, yet we continue to trot the same cb’s and safeties out there because they are upperclassmen. It is just really frustrating to see that because it is clear it is hurting the team as a whole
