Windy's football discussion thread.

I agree. Unfortunately we have a few ready for a coaching search 🤣
We call those people idiots.

Or in Slice's case, idoits.

The only coach I'm ready to replace is Willie Martinez because our secondary is still bad.

But Elarbee needs to coach his ass off, because this OL is horrible. No protection.

OL and DBs are the two worst units. The LBs are handicapped by Pili being out, forcing Herring in as Mike, and he's very raw when it comes to doling out assignments. That's why Florida's motion hurt us so much. They purposely took advantage of Herring's inexperience. He'll get better, but we'll struggle while he does. DL did get push and some pressure, but Mertz was able to beat it. Milton absolutely needs to play better, but that line is so porous he has very little time to make decisions. Putting Nico behind it could hurt him more than help him. Only hope OL play gets better IF/when Cooper returns. Are the players on the line just really bad, or is the center making bad assignment calls? We'll know more when Coop is back.

Been trying to let that game go, but it still angers me. Especially when I think of Hadden trying to knock Etienne down with his shoulder rather than wrapping him up and tackling him. That kid needs to run steps until he pukes, then start all over.

I need more laughs and serenity now.

I’m hoping our oline improves once Mays is back.

Vols senior answers question about team's confidence in Joe Milton and fans calling for Nico Iamaleava

There are certainly things that Milton needs to do better, but it's hard to disagree with Warren when he says that it's not all on Milton. The offensive line didn't play well on Saturday night in Gainesville. And the wide receivers have been inconsistent at times early this season as well. Until those two areas get fixed, it's hard to expect any quarterback to play to their potential.

I see the FF is still in meltdown
It is unfreakingbelievable that some of em say they had to watch the game days later to realize how hard milton was hit on that pick.

If the OL plays the rest of the year like they did for the majority of the uf game, whoever is back there is gon git kilt.

I have faith that Heup and Co are gon get dis ficksed.

GO VOLS

You better not play pickum cuz u cain't spell for chit.

I don't understand targeting I guess. When he took off he was a runner. He didn't slide he kind of curled up. He go popped before he could complete the curl. Same BS call as the rest of the gam.e

That last play is a flag every time. It might have been unsportsmanlike conduct instead of targeting though.

Interesting games for next week:

UTSA at Tennessee
Florida State vs. Clemson
Colorado vs. Oregon
Ole Miss vs. Alabama
Iowa vs. Penn State
Ohio State vs. Notre Dame
Oregon State vs. Washington State
UCLA vs. Utah
Rutgers (surprisingly undefeated) vs. Michigan
Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati
Arkansas vs. LSU
Auburn vs. TAMU
Memphis vs. Mizzou (both are undefeated)
Mississippi State vs. South Carolina (I'd love to see SCar fall to 1-3)

Next weekend looks like a good slate of games. A Tennessee win and some major upsets would be nice.

Tennessee coach confirms suspicion with Vols WR Dont'e Thornton

UT's offense under Josh Heupel requires everyone to be on the same page at all times. And it can take a little while to build that level of chemistry/trust.

It was never fair to expect Thornton to turn into a Jalin Hyatt clone in Week One.

Hyatt was moderately productive in his first year in Heupel's offense before breaking out in a big way as a junior in 2022. That's not to say that it will take that long for Thornton to break out (maybe it doesn't take that long or maybe it takes longer, no one knows for now), but it's a reminder that it takes time in this offense to become comfortable.
