Yep. Thats the cyclones starting QB gone. Hope we can steer clear of this crap.

I wanna know how the law KNEW or could prove that these kids were gambling? My guess is they were really stupid...probably placed the bets themselves on their cellphones, with the payments going to their own checking accounts? The QB parents were allegedly involved too...so maybe he used an account that was opened by them when he was much younger? Imagine throwing away a full scholarship and the chance to play Div1 football for Draftkings??

Very likely. NIL might light a fuse under it ... disposable income. Kids with excessive amounts of money is never a good combination. We may very well see all the bad stuff from pro sports filter down to kids with even less common sense. Makes you wonder what will happen to grades and graduation rates ... hard to tell if NIL money will keep kids in school or if they will still leave for the pros as soon as possible.

Welp, received my separation date last week - May 1, 2024. Pretty much knew it was coming. Biggest problem is I'll only be 54, 2.5 months at that point (with 25 years service) when you need to be 55+ with 10+ years of service to be eligible for retiree medical benefits.

Fast forward to today where I just received confirmation I will be eligible for the benefit. Huge deal for me. Maybe now I can get a bit more sleep.

Sorry but congratulations? Not sure what's appropriate here.

Mostly a congrats thing now with the insurance worked out. Husband was targeting 55 to retire anyway, so will just be a little under schedule for me.
What will two distinguished urbanites like yourselves do to enjoy your golden years?

If i was buying a car i needed to run reliably for 4 years followed by another 6 or so for HS and college....it would have to be a Honda. If you get a Honda and it does NOT run 200k miles plus without any major issues then you have terrible luck/maintenance and are the statistical outlier. Some say Toyotas are the same, but the 2 i have owned...a Celica and a Sequoia...weren't nearly as reliable as my Hondas...Civic coupes x2, Passport and Pilot. In fairness, the Passport was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo which Honda used while developing their 1st full size SUV...the Pilot. It was still reliable relatively speaking, I did have to replace the starter, water pump, and fuel pump/in tank filter...which is far more work than i put in the other 3 Hondas. If i could afford it, I would own all Honda engines/products from my lawnmower to boat motors to generators to motorcycles. They make the best small engines on Earth, and just about everything else they make is the standard for its class/type. The Civic and Accord are perennial "Car and Driver 10 best" and the Odyssey is widely considered the best minivan that money can buy. They are never really flashy...just thoughtfully engineered quality vehicles with extreme longevity.

I cannot speak about luxury vehicles from Europe or Japan..never been willing to make those huge payments. For "regular" cars though its Honda hands down with Subaru probably 2nd due to their reliability, safety, and great resale value
Range Rovers are a status symbol….. they tell everyone you can afford to buy one AND pay to fix it when it breaks down

Definitely travel, domestic and international. Need to figure out where to establish a home base.

Any suggestions on what we should do?
Well since you asked, I recommend you rent a home in southern middle TN from a really great Landlord. Then, travel A LOT so you're never home and put minimal wear and tear on your rented house.

Start in the "A" countries and finish in Zimbabwe. Avoid any dangerous areas. Voila.

Any money leftover after yall pass, should be bequeathed to your amazing landlord.

Other way. Start with Zimbabwe and forget Afghanistan and Alabama.

Got any properties up for grabs near Columbia/Spring Hill?

Very specific. I like it, but you know I'm an East Tennessee boy.

Yessir. One scheduled for a complete reno.

Well darn. My sister just ended her engagement with the biggest douche in the world and, while everyone in Campus Dinkus is over the moon in celebration (the whole family disliked this guy, especially my niece), he had convinced her to rent out her house and move to Huntsville 4 months ago so she needs to find a place to live around Spring Hill until her tenants move out.

(I really, really want to avoid having her and her 12 year old living with me until then)
