That’s hearsay in a trial against Trump. Can’t think of an applicable exception off top of my head. Not sure if it’s enough to sever the cases.
Otherwise seems like a circumstantial case. Pretty strong motive for Nauta to act alone since he knows he’s on video moving the boxes.
Thinking tactically, it may be to drive a wedge between Nauta and Trump. Trump’s best defense in this case is to throw Nauta under the bus and Nauta has to know it.
Jack Smith is scum and I hope of Trump or any other R gets elected he gets prosecutedI'm not a lawyer but I watch a lot of Law and Order and they are all the time arguing hearsay. Would one of the hearsay exceptions be admissions against penal interests (saw that in a recent episode)?
Interesting article on Yahoo's news board said Trump is having a hard time finding front line legal talent. Multiple reasons include: (1) his habit to not pay his lawyers, (2) many lawyers that are in large firms can't get approval to take the case because other lawyers would lose clients, (3) Trump won't quit talking about the cases thereby giving the prosecutors more ammo, and (4) (this is a big one) he occasionally doesn't tell his lawyers the truth or the whole story.
As I've said before, Jack Smith is top of the pyramid. Would you really want to go to war against him using 2nd tier attorneys?

I hope to live long enough to see the tables turnedLOL
The irony is too thick.
Jack Smith is prosecuting the LAW and you don't like him because you believe politically motivated weaponization of the law to be wrong but you also hope "Trump or any other R gets elected so they can prosecute him."
Good grief. Go sit in the corner and think about your life decisions. You're a friggin' cartoon.
I have no doubt that you do. But realistically the logistics of imprisoning a President would be crazy, he would still be entitled to his staff, office and SS protection.
Obviously imprisoning a sitting president would trigger a constitutional crisis. But if American's were dumb enough to elect a twice impeached, criminally indicted or convicted candidate - then we'd all get what we deserved.
My assertion was that a 'former' President should be eligible for the same kind of legal jeopardy as any other ordinary swinging dick.
Come on Septic. Hoping a President goes to prison over what amounts to a political prosecution? It will not be a good look and would even further divide the country if such a thing is possible.I hope you're wrong. Alas, i suspect that dumb donny will plead out to some lesser charge to avoid any real consequence.

I think the Bidens, along with just about everyone in Washington, are corrupt, but would not want to see Joe sent to prison even if at this point irrefutable proof he grifted as VP and/or P came to light. It would smack of and be a political prosecution. And I pretty much hate that old senile fart with stronger feelings against him than any other President.
It may sound hypocritical, but yeah, the President is different from the rest of us. Senators, Reps, etc, send them to prison, but the President just gets retired and should be publicly shamed universally.
Respect your position. And to be sure I did not say all laws. If he commits treason or such, hell yeah shoot him. My position is someone has to be the adult in the room when it appears to be a political prosecution. On that score, we have to agree to disagree.Hoping a *former* president goes to prison for breaking the law. Damn right.
This whole "weaponization" thing is bullsh*t. If he broke the law he should pay the piper. Full stop.
Blaming the DOJ and the prosecutor tasked with its prosecution is just that, deflection and blame to redirect away from the fact that LAWS were broken.
I don't care if it's Biden or Trump, R, D or I.
Trump has groomed the R's to believe he's been a victim of the government and media and law enforcement from the beginning. He's poisoned the well against every institution that could threaten him or hold him accountable. And folks that already were distrustful of the government or the media or LEO's lapped it up. Still do.
So year, if trump has broken the law - F him. he should be subject to the same prosecution as you or I would be. In fact a president should be held to a higher standard.
