Manipulated Mike: 0-2 at the negotiation table.

Because of the state that they are in right now.

Memphis is losing their best player in Evans, and most of their signing class. They aren't in a great state. In fact they could be in big trouble.

And didn't Arizona make the sweet 16? would that mean they are in a better state than UT?

No, because if you offer me $12 Mil for my home there's no way in hell that I would buy it back from you at the same price. I would take the money to be sure. But that's not the value of the home to me.

People don't sell their homes based on what it is "worth" to them. The market price is based on the actual purchase price. Their has to be a transaction in order for there to be a market value. Right now Bruce's market value is whatever UT is paying him.

Listen, just because I'm better looking than you, make more money than you, have a hotter girlfriend than you, and am infinitely more intelligent than you, it doesn't mean that I'm in a better state than you....Oh wait perhaps it does.

Touche on your part for Arizona, but who the hell would wanna move all the way out there? haha.

Lets face it Tiger High gets no respect because of the league they are in. They will have a hard time finding a top coach. They will have to get a fast rising coach and hope he is good.

Yes, but my wife is better looking and I'd be willing to put money on it.

Move to Arizona as opposed to Memphis? Edge Arizona.

So we gave CBP a raise to make him STILL the third highest paid coach in the conference? Is that so out of whack? I think if he went to Memphis and it came out that it would have taken only a slight raise to keep him, MH looks bad.

Good lord I am not arguing with you about who again.

Lexvol, so if we want to know what BPs market value is, we wait until he signs with someone else?

No...what is so hard to understand about this? His market value is whatever the numbers are on his current contract. Had he signed for 3.4 (or whatever), that would be his market value. Otherwise you are dealing in pure speculation.

Ok so is it better to speculate his market value and give him a raise here, or wait until we find out his market value from his signing with someone else?

because womens basketball doesn't bring in as much revenue as mens. And she also is never going to leave. Bruce has other suitors pursuing him

Wow. Good post. You're right, Bruce pearl didn't have anyone even looking at him. No one would even take a chance on him. Thank you for your insight.

You said other suitors. You are wrong. I'm trying to figure out who the other suitors are.

If Geoff Calkins and Dan Wolken are right, Bruce Pearl parlayed the Memphis search committee spending two days talking to Tim Floyd and a hysterical Chicken Little fan base in Knoxville into a raise. Great job, Hamilton.

I speculated the same thing yesterday. BP wasn't happy with some fan reactions this past season. As I said it wouldn't shock if he used this as a way to stir the fan base and coddle him some after the type of season it was.

If he was given a raise and signed the papers that is his new market value. If someone offered him 3 million dollars that doesn't mean his market value is 3 mill. Market value is not established until the papers are signed.

This is a stupid analogy! Houses are not coaches. The housing market is not the coaching market. And I don't think your analysis of the housing market is correct anyway.

It is the difference between theory and reality.

A older man is talking to his son. He tells his son let me explain the difference between theory and reality. He encourages his son to ask his mom and his sister if they would sleep with a man if they were offered 1 million dollars.

His son did. After thinking about it, they both answered "yes" to the question.

The son reported the news to his father. To which his father explained...

" You see son, in theory you and I are sitting on 2 million dollars, but in reality we are living with a couple of whores!"

First Fulmer’s contract now Pearl’s.
Can’t a fan get a break?

You can't be serious! Mike Hamilton is the Man, fired the Great Pumpkin, Fired Buzzed Peterson,Hired Pearl, Hired Kiffin & Co. The Kiffin hire showed Mike H. has got a set of Stones! He is a true American Badazz!!:cool2:

:lolabove: Super funny, yet still irrelevant to the Pearl situation

Super funny and super relevant...

It is all theoretical until the papers are signed. You and I can argue until we are blue in the face, but we both know that Bruce Pearl isn't worth 3 million dollars a year.

I guess the real question we should ask is does he bring in enough money to the athletic department to warrant a slight increase in salary to prevent his leaving. Wins/losses don't mean anything in the eyes of MH if the revenue is still there.

How did Fulmer manipulate Hamilton? He only coached here for 17 years and was middle of the pack in the SEC when it came to salary. I believe he was 7th when he was fired.

Then we need to find an AD that can find a balance.
