Ron and Casey DeSantis Host Families of 9/11 Victims for Memorial Day barbecue - after they criticized Donald Trump for Hosting the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tournament in D.C.

  • Gov. DeSantis and his wife Casey hosted 500 Gold Star and military families, veterans and those who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks
Ron DeSantis hosted Gold Star and military families, veterans and victims of 9/11 for a Memorial Day BBQ on Sunday where they shared with the Florida governor frustrations with Donald Trump hosting the same weekend a Saudi Arabian-funded golf tournament.

The Navy veteran and his wife and Florida first lady Casey DeSantis had 500 people at the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee and made time for a more than hour-long conversation with families of those who lost loved-ones in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The 2024 candidate also delivered remarks in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday honoring the fallen.

Meanwhile, the former president was hosting at Trump National in Sterling, Virginia – just outside of Washington, D.C. – the LIV golf tournament, which is bankrolled by Saudi Arabia.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his wife Casey hosted 500 Gold Star families, Military members and families, those who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks and veterans at a BBQ at the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, Florida on Sunday

'We shared with [DeSantis] our past dealings with President Trump and we just laid out what a stark contrast it was between what he was doing that day; hosting Gold Star family members, members from the 9/11 community and active members of the Military at the Florida governor's House. Compare that to what a former president is doing that same weekend; right outside the Pentagon, he's hosting the Saudis in a Saudi-funded golf tournament,' Eagleson, 37, detailed to DaillyMail.com.

EXCLUSIVE: Inside Ron and Casey DeSantis' 'powerful' meeting with 9/11 families: Advocate who was 15 when he lost his dad in South Tower says couple spoke to every relative - and claims Republicans won't 'forgive' Trump for 'taking Saudi money'

'I think Republicans are willing to forgive Trump for a lot of his misgivings and a lot of past misdeeds, and are willing to look the other way,' Brett Eagleson, 37, told DailyMail.com in Monday. 'But on this particular issue with, you know, taking Saudi money and caving to foreign influence and siding with the Saudis over the 9/11 families – I think there's a lot of Republicans that are just drawing the line on that.'

After declaring Trump unique threat, some liberal media declare DeSantis even 'more dangerous'

"For much of the establishment media today, there is a need to create a boogeyman out of whichever right-of-center politician is most likely to disrupt their preferred ideological vision," DePauw University journalism professor Jeffrey McCall told Fox News Digital.

"Trump made it easy for the progressive media to attack him as a threat to democracy, but even before that, the ideologically driven media made out George W. Bush, and presidential candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney, of all people, as dangerous threats to the media's preferred order," McCall continued. "The left-of-center media is now going after DeSantis as a sort of preemptive strike to establish a narrative that can be continued should DeSantis emerge as the GOP nominee."

IMO they want Trump . The media propped him up over the other GOP candidates in 2016 because they thought he would be a layup for the Hildebeast.
I believe the media thinks they can tank him after he gets the nomination.

For someone who harps on loyalty, he has sure not shown any himself. He's made bad moves since 2020. How he leads in the polls is beyond me.

There are a lot of dumb people in the world unfortunately who have no business voting. The die hard Trump supporters are unable to recognize that Trump can’t win a general election.

Wouldn't the same apply to a 3rd Party vote?

He’s an idiot. Things like this are the reason he has no shot in a general election.

#NeverTrumpAgain

On a somewhat serious note - do the real never Trumps like the Lincoln project(?) support Desantis?

Who are they actually supporting to defeat Trump? Other than Democrats.

If I was a Dem, I would be pulling for Trump to get the nomination. Would probably be an easy win for the Dems if the GOP trots out a lame duck like Trump.

I am seriously beginning to wonder if Trump might not be suffering from mental illness. His attacks on even his long term allies and supporters is indicative of a clinical paranoia i haven’t seen since Nixon. And I think Trump’s is actually worse. So in 2024, we might have to decide between a candidate with advanced dementia and a candidate with possible paranoid schizophrenia. Can we have a preemptive 25th Amendment and remove both of them from the ballot?

Trump's only mental illness is the extreme type of narcissism one acquires from being born on third base and living in a bubble where you can get away with anything due to your wealth. Aside from that he's probably just got the general mental deterioration that can come from old age.

It's funny how Trump is acting the same as he has always acted, and just now his former proponents are theorizing mental illness may be to blame as if he's changed in some major way.

I wonder if Joe will think of running for reelection after all this chit goes down?
Biden is compromised by China & other foreign nations for taking money pay to play schemes. The Biden Crime Family secrets are finally coming out into the sunlight for all to see.
Nobody needs 4 more years of this corrupt & criminal administration of selling America down the toilet.

A quick anecdote on 2024. I was at a gathering with several gay friends over the weekend and the Trump or DeSantis topic came up. The entire group felt Trump was the better (safer?) option.

Of course the group all live in FL and are very familiar with DeSantis.

Finding a President from either side of the Aisle is going to be a difficult task. Eliminate Trump, Biden, Harris. DeSantis and who are your nominees from each party.

We get the leadership we deserve.

In 2016 and 2020 Trump was extremely narcissistic and vindictive; but he was still at least somewhat logical (albeit in a very ugly way). Lately he is spraying vitriol like a sprinkler with no reverse pin, putting his ire on friend and foe alike. This is different. Something has snapped

I'm no DeSantis fan, but it isn't even June 1st yet. Trump didn't come down the escalator until June 15th, 2015.

It just seems like Trump has all the momentum right now. Like DeSantis but I’m beginning to wonder if his culture war fight won’t do him in during the general election.

Love the way RFK Jr. is going right now.

I'm surprised he's held it together this long. Also keep in mind, btw, that he's been impeached twice and has the NYC DA on his neck... among other things. Not saying I pity him as much or more than a waitress with 3 kids trying to make ends meet, but I was amazed in the last year of his term at how he was able to take haymakers from the media everyday. Compare that to the kid gloves the media gives Biden.
