tennessee needs to re-spark the series with mtsu eventually. i enjoyed it the last time they got together. then again, as a tn tech student i kind of enjoy mtsu getting beat up on anyway.

I hate to keep showing MTSU some love (I have on another thread tonight), but that game in 2002 or 03 was a very good game. Could have been tied at halftime if it wasn't for a questionable catch out of bounds call right before halftime.

i was at the game but it definitely wasn't one of the more memorable ones i've went to. i just thought it was cool that they finally got to play each other. from what i remember it was kind of close in the 1st half and then ut blew it open in the 3rd or 4th. i think we blocked a punt sometime near the end and we recovered it in the endzone for a td. i remember thinking to myself that something seemed amiss with ut after that game. then florida happened 2 weeks later....

"Playoff Subdivision" is the old 1-AA. Division II and III still exist.

Pacific was in the Big West conference when we played them, which was I-A at the time. They don't do football anymore.

This sucks. I can't believe we're playing a I-AA team.

Thank the college Presidents for adding the 12th game in a money grab. This is bound to happen from time to time.

I think I read Pacific was D1 when we played them. I do not believe they have a football team anymore.

Correct. They played in the now defunct (for football anyway) Big West Conference against teams like Fresno St., San Jose St., and New Mexico St.:eek:k:

I hate this. I have taken pride in Tennessee never playing 1-AA schools.

Me too. Then I would point out how we play solid non-conference opponents. At least we still play Oregon that year and save a little credibility.

Like GAvol said, it is bound to happen with 12 games.
