Well, it was a waste of time. I included the punishment with the law intentionally. Obviously the law, it's enforcement, and the punishment for breaking it are intertwined. That's why many of the current gun laws are a joke. Many are willing to ignore the law because they know there is no enforcement and punishment.

Maybe limiting the fire rate of a semiautomatic weapon will change that. 😂

Were I to sell a gun to a private citizen, I won't do a background check nor a mental inventory test. Nor am I required to. Are you in TN? I have no idea how they would prove it one way or the other anyway. Maybe you could use the HIPPA laws to your advantage... since no one has the right to know anything about your health.

Pretty much no one supports any measure that will disarm the American populace. I don't know of anyone attempting to get the 400,000,000 million guns out of circulation. No one is going to deny most Americans their right to keep and bear arms.

Yet you want more laws and restrictions on the books. Not really much of a solution is it? I mean you just admitted that the existing laws don't work, amiright?

Give us an example. And your x/y argument won't do anything for the "400,000,000" guns already in existence as you said. So... the only people you will be affecting are current gun owners by making them criminals. Annnnnd... if they comply, the only people that will have 'illegal' weapons will be criminals.

Oh, yes, that is correct regarding background check, etc. Just pointing out there are some restrictions, but as you point out, tough to enforce. I have, as you, made private purchases and sales before.

In SC you can’t sell to someone who can’t legally purchase one. I suppose you could go to an FFL and have them pay for a background check or just sell to someone with a CWP.

It would not apply to guns already in circulation, it would only apply to new guns manufactured.
