I can. Has your wife read second Timothy? If so is she cool with it? Pointing out religious hypocrisy isn't a high horse. Pointing how terrible some of the Bible is isn't a high horse. It would serve religious people well to not be defensive of these obvious glaring issues. Instead be open and accepting. Maybe say yea we don't agree with that whole second Timothy thing

Objectively, isn’t his comment topical? Differences in interpreting scripture is why there are many Christian denominations. Perhaps he has other issues, concessions, but that are not topical. And in Christian ideology in particular, gay marriage And XYZ sexuality is a pretty damned large and fundamental concession.

And @evillawyer this is the decay of academia - including science - generally. For instance, I took an interest in criminology several decades ago while involved in gun control debates. Even then, criminologists were complaining of the increasing difficulties discussing crime within societal groups by race/ethnicity, and the efforts to erase distinctions which really would make the pursuit useless; you have to know where to apply a tourniquet vs a band-aid.

I'd followed FBI and Bureau of Justice stats in those years. At one point FBI removed the ethnicity categories which blended Hispanics/Latinos in with non-H/L whites, and only resumed the distinction in, if I recall correctly, 2017. At least in part, this was due to voices in that ethnic group asking why are we now invisible, and thus subject to no more attention than whites who have a somewhat lower violent crime rate and thus get less policing attention? Their sensible argument was that WE in that community need more attention, not less, just as surveys of black community residents contradict de-policing efforts but are drowned out by radical leftist voices such as BLM.

Brittney Griner's wasted no time in getting political again, four months after her she was detained in Russia, as the WNBA star revealed that she thinks it's a 'crime' to ban trans women from competing against their biological counterparts in sport.

Appearing at her first press conference as a Phoenix Mercury player since returning to the U.S. in December, the 32-year-old center further said that she 'definitely will be speaking up against that legislation and those law expected to be passed,' referring to Republicans wanting to amend Title IX as a guarantee to protect women's sports.

'Everyone deserve the right to play,' Griner added, calling any other view points as a 'threat' to trans people as they prevent them from truly 'being who they are.'

The basketball player's first news conference drew more than 100 people, including Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, members of the Mercury organization and her wife of four years, Cherelle. The athlete is also working on a memoir about her Russian captivity.

I think the issue is we don’t openly mock trans people enough.

A state congressman stood up recently and said “I have friends (other trans people) who have literally taken their lives over Bill’s like this”

That’s such an insane thing that you can not only say today, but be praised for. Let’s reverse the argument.

“I have friends who have literally killed themselves over Bud light partnering with a tranny”-if that all occurred to a person, the entire world would openly mock both that statement and person.

Disagree, 100%. Mockery is vitally important and since Obama came to office too many have been afraid to mock the left. I think that’s really what ruined the media and institutions in this country.

When people stop mocking you, you start believing too much of your own Bs. Like claiming we shouldn’t discuss legislation because the discussion alone (what that congressman claimed) leads to suicide. That should be mocked. It’s healthy. Just like it’s healthy to mock absurdity on the right.

But instead society, the media, and our institutions will treat such statements as beautiful, brave, speaking truth to power, etc

I think if a child feels they are in the wrong body. They need to agree to therapy for years until they are 18 after that it's that adult choice.

Of course. But that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying since Obama was sworn in the left has received much, much less mockery than previously. For example Clinton and Bush were both favorites for late night comedians, SNL, etc. They seem to be off limits today. That’s not good for anyone.

Bad ideas should be mocked and need to mocked. If you suggested Bud shouldn’t advertise with trannies because Billy Bob will kill himself, I would happily mock you and Billy Bob

I agree with that..I'm jus saying I'd like some common sense used in the trans argument especially with such a high rate of suicide attached to that community.

Common sense has exited the building in regards to this subject. All media will now refer to a person using a pronoun that is inaccurate, if that is what the person wishes.

No one is going to refer to me as Hispanic just because I ask them to, nor should they.

Friend told me on bumble that a large number of women have “they/them” pronouns despite being w actual women, dressing like women, and being into men.

It’s becoming a virtue signal to be “non-binary”
