After some frustration I did find the Florida Spring game last nigh on SECNetwork plus. Wow, that offense was offensive. Mertz was terrible. I have to imagine any Florida fan watching that hoping to see improvements on their offense was disappointed. I know I should not put too much into spring games but that was hard to watch. Their defense looked pretty good with 9 sacks overall but I really think it was due to really poor O-line play. Their tailbacks could not break free all night and I honestly think they have good TBs. Travis Etienne's little brother Trevor looks like he has all the tools but had no blocking. In summation, under Heupel you have to find a way to outscore Tennessee. We had the #1 offense in the country last season. I just do not see any way Florida will be able to do that.

Florida is going to be bad. We should pound them. I can’t wait.

Great point about not putting much stock in a Spring Game, but that's really bad if they gave up 9 sacks. What gives me the most hope is they are breaking in a new QB and they were absolutely embarrassed by Oregon State in the Bowl game.

I'm so ready for our rivals to go through the sh*t we've gone through the past decade and a half.

I hope Heupel doesn’t take his foot off the gas like last year.

We absolutely did NOT take our foot off the gas. I mean we went up 17 points with under 8 minutes left and had only one series after that and on that we went to their 30 and went for it on 4th down. We just could not stop their offense in the last 3 series.

Yes we did. If we would have kept up our same tempo we would have put the nail in the coffin. Our last possession in the 4th quarter was all run plays accept the last play in that drive. We slowed down. We would have beaten them by at least 2 scores had we kept going running our full offense at tempo. Just stop it already.

They lost just about everybody on their O-line. The bowl game showed how bad their offense is going to be. Mertz is not going to be a difference maker.

Sorry that makes NO sense. 17 point lead with 5 minutes in the 4th quarter and you don't think they should run clock? Come on man...you're smarter than that

Here we go. How soon people forget how this series has gone since the early 90's. UF will be MORE than ready to play UT. Their defense will be stellar again and their offense will be better in the Fall.

Heupel absolutely took the foot off the gas on Tennessee’s final drive. You can say that it was in order to run clock, but they absolutely stopped running the regular offense in hopes of making the game away. It was an 11-point game and they decided to run, run, and run some more. The reason that Tennessee got to the UF 30 was largely due to the fact that recovered an onside kick at midfield.

that's not taking your foot off the gas.. that's game management

that's how you close games and get Ws

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Had we thrown three incompletions and killed no time you and everyone else would have been howling at how poor his game management was. "Taking your foot off the gas" is getting a big early lead and trying to coast tot he end...coast...as in no foot on the gas. Completely different situation.

We say this every year. But this year, I might actually buy it. They finally play a real road game out of conference, so we’re gonna see what they’re made of quickly.

Tennessee has not been this good in a long time and Florida has not been this bad in a long time. Yes, we tried to talk ourselves into the idea that Tennessee can beat Florida in the past, but there wasn't a lot of reason to believe it...which was more about Tennessee being bad than Florida being great. They were just good enough to be better than Tennessee. Now, Tennessee is appreciably better than Florida.
