Gun control debate (merged)

I've offered multiple ideas that would lessen the level of gun insanity in this nation and the damage it ultimately brings.
Every idea is always met with the same crazed gun nut responses.
It's tiresome, it's sad, it's shameful, and Jon Stewart highlighted that perfectly.

No Luther, every idea you have brought forward was met with facts on why they won't work and how they are just additional infringements on law abiding citizens.

Jon Stewart just acted like an ass and should give anyone pause about sitting for an interview with him.

I agree. your ignorance, and failed attempts to falsely assign blame where it doesn't lie is tiresome, sad, and shameful. Stewart highlights that perfectly.

the problem will keep getting worse the longer this nation heads down your path of ignoring the base problem, and the more you vilify and attack millions of innocent people.
That's simply absurd. No one is ignoring the "base problem". Reasonable people want to address all problems.
It's the gun nuts that so transparently want to hide the gun component of the problem behind "the base problem."

I thought he made his point well.

He made his point well, but that doesn't mean it is correct. Both of these guys are wrong.

IMO, children being read to by drag queens is a parental decision and the government should have no part in it. Likewise, the government should have no part in infringing my constitutional right to own a firearm. Freedom is what it is and the nonsense is always being shouted by those that want to take some of it away.

Want to ban trans reading to children? Sorry, ain't gonna happen.

Want to ban my right to own a firearm? Sorry, ain't gonna happen.

What is the problem and what is your solution?

No hogg, they were not. What you guys feel refutes an argument, in no way actually refutes the argument.
The chasm between what you think proves your point and reality is massive.

Hogg has already admitted that there are legal restrictions in place that are not infringements.

You have provided nothing that would have prevented any of the recent mass killings nor would reduce the use of guns in violent crimes. The only thing any of your suggestions would do is inconvenience and infringe on the law abiding.

I welcome you proving me wrong.

I've offered numerous things that would have reduced the use of guns in violent crimes. It's you who have done nothing to disprove those offerings.

But you will not because you cannot. You may think you can or did, but I know you can't and didn't.

I think what we both know is that it is absolutely pointless to have any type of "discussion" in the PF.
All I can do is continue to hope that reasonableness will ultimately win out, while processing all of the avoidable pain, death, and destruction that occurs in the interim.

Show your work. Give us 1 thing that you have suggested that would reduce mass shootings or violent crimes involving guns that wouldn't inconvenience or infringe on law abiding citizens. Just 1.

Why? It's the same problem. One of the many problems with your attacks on the 2A, is that you cant define what it is you are attacking. The "gun" problem remains amphorous for you. You cant sit down and define what it is you have a problem with, so you literally have to make up terms and phrases that dont actually exist so that you can be as vague as possible.

Half the time you cant even define what you want done. "Something needs to be done", that's amphorous AF. Or when you can define it, it already exists. Or if it doesnt exist it wouldnt make a difference, expanded back ground checks wouldnt catch these people. A delay on delivery of a gun would just change the date of the attack.

51 Years of Data: K-12 School Shooting Statistics Everyone Should Know

And meanwhile you ignore that all your measures with guns arent effective. School shootings are on the rise despite guns being less available, despite there being more background checks, despite there more "safety" measures in place. At some point, if you really want to solve the problem, you have to admit their your current strategy isnt working, and that doubling down isnt the solution.

Demonizing guns is working as well as demonizing drugs did. At some point you have to admit that and realize a completely different strategy is needed.
Those generalizations do not apply to me. I've offered numerous reasonable changes -
The Jon Stewart clip is perfect in its summation. He is saying exactly what tens of millions (and growing) of Americans are rightfully thinking.
The gun nuts have contributed far more to the growing demonization of guns than any other one thing.
