President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

If there was a valid medical reason for performing gastric bypass surgery on an anorexic, I would certainly hope that it had not been made illegal.
That’s kind of my point of the analogy….there wouldn’t be a medical indication for a weight loss reduction surgery in an anorexic.

So extraordinary it's likely statistically irrelevant to the discussion. Which is probably why you've steered the discussion toward it
Who determines what is statistically irrelevant? I'll ask you, do you believe a child who suffers from one of those "statistically irrelevant" conditions should have legal access to the most appropriate medical care and services?

That's breathtakingly stupid, but I now know to which category you belong.
Your only hurdle to act outside the Doctor, Parent & Child is your “unique situation” construct.

Ambiguous
Undefined
Unconstrained

Who will be weighing the “uniqueness” of the situation?

“Medical professionals”.

It’s just a circle.

Who is to say that gastric bypass surgery couldn't have medical outcomes other than simply weight loss?
What if the anorexic person had so damaged portions of his stomach and the immediate connected intestine, that gastric bypass surgery was a life saving measure? It would be beyond stupid for that surgery to be illegal.

This is one of the most ridiculous discussions I've ever seen on this forum. What Luther is claiming isn't even remotely what is being pushed by the "progressive" lawmakers and medical professionals. I'm sure he knows that, though.

Ambiguous genitalia and sex chromosomal defects are extremely uncommon and are already handled with surgery, when indicated. This agenda literally has NOTHING to do with that.

But carry on.

But a cleft palate...

Not how it works, but keep rationalizing.

In other words, some of the surgeries many are pushing to make illegal, are already taking place in a reasonable and appropriate manner.

I was born with cleft lip and palate. I’m most likely more educated on this topic than anyone on this board other than you @kiddiedoc.

I’ve been so amazed by what I’m reading, I’ve just kept quiet and waited for what would be stated next. This is fascinating stuff!

The narrowmindedness found here is exhausting:
In addition to weight loss, gastric bypass may improve or resolve conditions often related to being overweight, including:
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
  • Heart disease.
  • High blood pressure.
  • High cholesterol.
  • Obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Type 2 diabetes.
  • Stroke.
  • Infertility.

he loves to drag everyone down the rabbit hole.

I believe it is a non-issue. I'm confident it pretty much NEVER happens, but unless there are some really unique circumstances, I would be against it.

I could easily compromise on a bill making certain surgeries illegal for anyone under the age of 18, as long as there are provisions for the extraordinary situations. I believe most every dem and repub would agree.

The right attempting to make it some kind of political boogey man is just one more example of how they easily manipulate the unthinking while making the country a worse place for everyone.

Just to recap:
I made a simple claim (bolded above) that I gladly stand by.
The flying down the rabbit hole was done by a bunch of nuts taking exception with my statement.
I merely stood above the rabbit hole trying to get others to climb back out.

But it's pretty much the same story repeated over and over.

Read you own post, the bolded nonetheless, and try again.
