As much as it pains me to say, several might pick the 1991 World Series was the best series in modern MLB playoff history. 5 of the 7 games were decided by 1 run.

Good one. Diamondbacks v Yankees went down to the last AB every game. Great series.

Both teams went from worst to first also. As far as I know, before that season no league champion had gone from finishing last in their division to making the World Series the following season. In 1990, both teams finished a combined 55 GB in their divisions.
