"Tennessee needs to fire Barnes so they can get over the hump."

IS MORE STUPID THAN

"Kentucky needs to fire Stoops so they can get over the hump."

And that last statement is the height of stupidity.

Yeah let’s just keep the guy that’s getting paid top 5 money and giving top 20 results. Let me guess. Who are we gonna get that’s better than Barnes right? 🙄🙄🙄

Anyone who thinks Barnes needs to be fired, has this board to flame away but most rational fans won't pay too much attention to them. Barnes is going to retire from UT some day and I'm good with that. He has built a very good program. I hope that he self-reflects and figures out how to break this run of disappointments in the NCAA tournament, and frankly I think he deserves the chance to do it. Regardless of those disappointments, getting UT to the tournament annually and actually being relevant in college basketball consistently.......you can't take that away from him.

So wait ... that means ... you think Stoops will get Kentucky over the hump then? Or you think Kentucky simply cannot get over the hump no matter who's in charge, so they should keep Stoops?

I'm not even challenging the claim, not am I seeking a coaching change at UT, I just don't understand the implied negative here. That doesn't seem like a very strong argument.

This is the way I see it. Stoops has gotten KY over many humps already; however he may not be able to get them over the remaining humps. If Stoops was replaced, there is a 60% chance KY would move backward, a 30% chance they stay where they are, and a 10% chance they get over additional humps. Do you risk a 60% chance of getting worse for a 10% of getting better.

The TN/Barnes situation is similar.....but not exactly the same.
In both cases, I wouldn't even consider a coaching change without a great replacement already all but secured.

Barnes has a much greater chance of "getting over the hump" at TN than does Stoops at KY.

Nobody has to prove anything regarding your ridiculous premise. Further, any insinuation that Rick Barnes needs to be fired is actually a much higher level of stupidity than your Stoops comment.

Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it. Before Barnes came along, Tennesse fans would have been happy squeezing into the tournament and playing their first game in Dayton. Now, under Barnes, we have been no less than a 5 seed. This continued success is being taken for granted by some fans

I dont want them to fire Barnes but he needs at least 3 combo guards on the roster at all times that can break down a defense and create their own shot. Only having one true PG sucks. I know it wasnt on purpose. But it needs to be addressed going forward. PG doesnt have to be pass first.

Barnes is Mark Richt. We aren’t going to make a final 4 under Barnes. And please stop with the oh we won’t be able to find anyone better.

Donnie Tyndall.

No idea if you're serious but if the NCAA wasn't a bunch of idiots and that guy could come back and coach a major program again(not here, for the reading challenged), he'd do some great things. He can coach. He has himself to blame, but at the same time, the other guys who have gotten away with similar stuff or gotten slaps on the wrist have me think he's paid too heavy a price.

Your point?

We have a good coach. We have the best athletic director we’ve had in decades. They’ve got this. When it’s time for a new coach, White is capable of finding a good one. Our athletics are in the best shape in their storied history. They don’t need advice from some idiot who’s biggest life negotiation is getting the boy toy in a happy meal.

I don’t want that greasy creep anywhere near our program. Anyone who wants to time travel back to that nightmare can go alone.

We've beaten Ky at Rupp 7 times in the last 45 years. Barnes owns 4 of them.

But maybe Buzz Peterson is available again.
The team that wants their coach fired? I don’t want Barnes fired (not even close) but this seems like an odd reason.
