The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

We shall see but I don't believe it.

Hard to believe, but...

"The Titans have used Tannehill as their primary starter for the past four seasons, and while the team promoted OC Tim Kelly, a Carr chase makes Tannehill’s Tennessee status tenuous. The Titans can save $27MM by designating Tannehill as a post-June 1 cut. A past restructure would make a standard Tannehill release more costly for the AFC South franchise. Even though the Titans kept Tannehill in the loop regarding Kelly’s hire, per Titans.com’s Jim Wyatt, one season remains on his contract."

Per PFR at 2:40 PM today. Carr released as well. Will see how it goes.

Carr?

I prefer Ryan over Carr. By a lot....

Hate the money aspect of NFL where you let go of superior players to make the budget.

Is it really worth it to sign a guy like Carr who is only 2 years younger than RT?

I don’t think so, to me they seem like pretty similar-tier players. Good but not elite QBs you can win with if you have a solid team around them. Neither is good enough to single-handedly make a team relevant, and both would need a near-perfect alignment of the stars to ever win a Super Bowl.

Not worth it unless Carr somehow comes much cheaper than Tannehill IMO.

A lot cheaper. And even then, we would just be spinning our wheels.

We must have an offensive line, a wide receiver, a cornerback. Besides the salary, Ryan is not the issue w/team.

If you can get him cheaper and use that money to make serious upgrades in other areas. If not then no, might as well keep RT.

I think putting Carr of the Chiefs would make them a 9-8 team. He has a lot of quit in him.

Not a fan.

Even though I've never seen him take a snap, might look toward Trey Lance for future.

Ryan will restructure. His hot wife likes NashVegas.

I think Carr and RT are about even, but if it saves money it’s worth it. Hopefully we take some of that money and rebuild the interior of our oline (hard to find tackles in free agency)

Dude has the most comeback wins (or in the top 3-4) in the NFL since like 2016 lol

I think Carr is a substantial upgrade over Tannehill. However, without adding some help on the o-line and at reciever, it won't matter. Carr has had 7 head coa hes during his career, an owner that is incompetent, constnt organizational chaos, and yet he willed the Raiders to a playoff berth in 2021. I don't think McDaniels is a good head coach and the Raiders will have a top 10 pick every year because he just isn't the guy for the job.

Admittedly, I was surprised they just cut him for nothing.....a month before they had to make a move.

Did he have a brother who played quarterback for the Texans? Or, is this the same cat

Yeah, David Carr. He got pummeled in Houston because they had a terrible line. I think he is/was the most sacked QB in history.

Thanks! Now I remember.

Yeah, I don't know much about the younger brother.

David always looked like he wanted to go hide behind a tree somewhere. Think he had sweaty Fred Weary blocking for him. Didn't really blame him for being all gloomy like.

Archie Manning got sacked a ton back in the days of a 14 game schedule.

He doesn't run nearly as much as RT. I'd say RT is a better runner (which makes sense with him being a WR)

Guess we could put Malik in for the QB running plays.

I still Ryan. Plus, the family likes NashVegas.
