Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

It’s been a long time since I have needed to speak to a realtor so forgive me but have they as a profession just gotten lazy? There is a piece of property for sale that we’re interested in so I reached out to the listing agent yesterday to get details. “The restrictions, platt and everything is attached to the listing” I explained that it’s not, if it is I can’t find it and she said “well I don’t know what you want me to do about it”.

Are the listings restricted to a single realtor in your state? If not, find another one and go to them to get the info.

If it's anything like Oklahoma, they love stealing commissions from other realtors.

I’ve already reached out to a friend of my son who’s a realtor and she’s digging. I was just a little shocked by the listing agent’s response. I’ll pull the owner off the county GIS and see if we can work a deal sans realtor if it comes to that.

Spoken like an agent destined to be looking for other employment soon.

P2P is always better if you can pull it off. The good thing about a realtor is getting the "background" done like the water and mineral rights, ownership deeds and the like.

Stuff you're already familiar with, of course.

They have their uses but it's getting less and less IMO.

Making health insurance plans and an expert talked about these supplemental policies. basically said get a low cost premium and high deductible and one of the supplemantals.
Said if I get cancer of heart attack or all sorts of conditions that it pays me like $10-$20K.
Now that just seems too good to be true. I dont know what the catch is but it is only like $50/month.

Anybody know what I am talking about.

AFLAK?

I tell you what, you pay me $50 month and in the event of you having a heart attack I'll pay you a large sum of money.

Really? It covers all sorts including cancer, stroke. Even pays $1K for every ER visit.
Basically covers a high dedcutible. The lowest deductible we found was like $7K, which seems a lot.

Do these less than worthless people still charge 6% of the selling price for the privilege of listing the property on the MLS site and sitting back and doing nothing while someone else sells it?

I'm pretty sure that's still the going rate.

Even still, not bad money for 10 minutes of their time. List a $500k house and make $15k. I always marvel when I drive by a real estate office and see the never ending row of high end cars and SUV's parked in the lot.

No kidding..just a listing.
Then you have to pay lime $1500 to file all the paperwork for liens and such. ****ing scam.
