President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

Typical of a Republiar, trying to hide that he's lying. Congratulation on failing to even do that. Well, nice, I suppose, to know something never change. Liars gonna lie, even they themselves might not know why, but they'll do it anyway. Just congratulate them for being consistent if nothing else.
Is that supposed to be a summary?

BREAKING: MLGW is preparing for yet another round of rolling blackouts tonight.

Rolling blackouts reinstituted, thousands of MLGW customers without power

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) is preparing for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to re-issue Step 50 Curtailment.

This means that once again, MLGW could have to institute system-wide “rolling blackouts.” Residents are also being asked to limit water usage due to low water pressure in some areas.

As early as 6 p.m., service to areas could be interrupted for 30 minutes, the utility company says.

When ordered, temporary outages will begin in the areas of North of Downtown, vicinity of Ben Hooks Library, and North Germantown. If necessary, the next areas affected will be areas near Central Gardens/Midtown, Getwell & 240, South Germantown/Winchester and East Germantown/West Collierville. As needed, we will rotate in 30-minute intervals throughout the rest of the service area. As soon as the Step 50 order is recalled, MLGW will notify customers and restore power.

#UPDATE: MLGW said as of 5:50 p.m. Friday, the extreme cold has caused a "critical power supply situation and low water pressure."

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Light, Gas and Water said it is preparing for the possibility of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) again requiring rolling blackouts as the extreme cold causes a "critical power supply situation and low water pressure."
Rolling blackouts means service to an area will be interrupted for 30 minutes. Customers may experience outages two to three times a day on average. All customers in MLGW’s service territory could be affected.

Critical facilities such as water pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, hospitals and airports are excluded from the blackouts.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) has activated to a Level 3-State of Emergency as an arctic blast takes hold of the state.

TEMA's designation means "a serious emergency or minor disaster has occurred or a situation is deteriorating rapidly and public warnings are being issued."

As a result, key state departments are called to the States's Emergency Operations Center to respond to situations.

The activation comes as the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) called on local power companies to conduct rolling blackouts in an effort to avoid major outages. The call to action was lifted just before noon but will be monitored in case consumption reaches critical levels.

Just need more solar and wind farms.
I agree…. That’ll fix everything.. and my electric car will save the world from drought and green house gases…. The polar bears will survive… the continents won’t be flooded by melting polar ice caps…and racism will end. It will be a beautiful miracle

Well, it appears that the last rolling blackout this morning took out the heat strip on my heat pump. Power went off for the second time this morning and on the second go around the temperature wouldn't climb above 60 when it came back on. Check everything out and the heat pump part is working but the electric strips are a no-go.

Thanks, TVA, for rolling blackouts we've never had before, even when Knoxville set the record for the country at -24 one day back in the 80s.

Your type sure likes to point out this type of thing without pointing out the same type of insanity perpetuated by the liberals. Shame on you

Shame on you for yapping about something you don't know. Pardon me, you do know from my past posts. I don't spare anybody, I do speak more often of Republiars and your ilk. That's because you guys consistently lie practically daily, even during live broadcasts, and even when shown their own video recorded previous statements. Or records where they made statements, and try to deny them. It's the blatant-repeated lying that provokes my ire. But you do know I have posted comments where I've called out so-called liberals, yet you post the lie above. Par for the course as usual. Shame on your hypocrisy, Carlie.

This was happening in a lot of liberal s***holes and even encouraged by the looney libs. Pillars of society for sure.

You ought to visit the rural roadsides where I live. You'll see roadside trash of beer cans, soiled diapers, fast food wrappers, and more tossed out by the heavily Republican truck driving residents proudly displaying their Trump banner stickers on the fenders and windows. Liberals or Republiars, are both a-holes when it comes to disrespecting Mother Earth. And there as just as many homeless so-called liberals as there are Republiars.

Maybe your TDS will get better in the new year.

Is all this cold weather due to climate change, formerly known as global warming?
I think it's a new thing called weather. For some reason it gets cold in the winter and warm in the summer, and each time it is colder than normal in the winter or warmer than normal in the summer we need to shut down more coal plants and buy electric cars to fix it.

When TVA really turns to crap just remember that Slo Jo and his Cackling Ho had their filthy hands all over it appointing a bunch of green energy freaks.

Two years after being elected, President Joe Biden will finally put his imprint on the largest federal agency in the Tennessee Valley. In a voice vote Wednesday, the U.S. Senate confirmed six new directors nominated by Biden for the board that governs the Tennessee Valley Authority. The vote came just a few days before Congress adjourns for the year and averts a threatened loss of a board quorum for TVA to make major business decisions within the next couple of weeks. Other new members to the TVA board initially pushed by Biden last year include Michelle Moore, a sustainability team leader in the administration of former President Barack Obama who now heads a nonprofit organization that promotes solar energy, and Beth Geer, a chief of staff to Al Gore Jr. when he was vice president.

Leave TX out of it this time. We still had 6000MW in reserve on ERCOTs reporting. If there are any issues it’s only smaller co-ops not the actual grid. ZeroHedge posting BS again. As usual.
Where did all of this power come from this year? Did Tejas build some new coal plants or are the illegals stealing less power to stay warm?

No like I said in a post a couple of days ago it was largely the timing last time as well as the length of the event. The storm last time hit when we had plants offline for scheduled yearly maintenance and the length of the bitter cold froze up gas well heads and they couldn’t get fuel to the power plants. Updates are still a work in progress but I do remember reading one of the corrective actions was local emergency fuel storage in many cases to deal with the frozen wells. And I believe they made some selective updates on those well heads too or are in the process of it.

That was a century storm. I’d guess I never see another one that bad. This one is serous but no where near as bad as the last one. It was much colder for much longer and at a time that the grid wasn’t ready to provide peak demand.
