It’s lame

JRob completely turned around a floundering franchise. We were the worst team in the NFL before we hired him. Since then, I think only 3 teams have more wins than us.

Was he a great GM? No. But I think it's a situation where you have to be careful what you wish for.

Also, some things you need to remember. While we didn't re-sign any 1st round picks under his tenure, it's important to remember why. We didn't re-sign Conk because we paid Byard instead who was/is an All Pro safety. Granted we could have afforded Conk if we didn't pay like 25 million combined to Clowney and Beasley.

And we couldn't resign Davis/Adoree cause we had to sign Tanne and Henry that same off-season. There was simply no way we had the money to keep everyone that off-season.

The last 2-3 seasons though have been a struggle in the draft. Trading away the best WR our franchise has ever had was a poor decision too (even though I like Burks). I understand the move, but Todd Downing needs to go too.

You make good points.

He lost not only at drafting in the past couple of years, he also lost at free agency. Took Dupree and Julio coming off serious injuries and lost a lot of cap space. Why? The problems were biggest at O-line. Take a step down and sign a solid edge rusher without a serious injury history and forget Julio who was over the hill and used up. A rookie could do more than him. There went a serious amount of cap space that could have been better used elsewhere.

Drafting Farley high who was coming off not one ACL, but two at a position that requires speed and quickness of movements - that's just dumb. Permitting an O-scheme that telegraphs its plays by formation and positions is also a job killer. For example, since Delanie they have not had a TE who could play all downs until Hooper, who is not game changer at the position. The use of their TE's telegraphs a lot of what they do.

But the guy deserves credit for turning the franchise around the first few years. One of his best FA signings was Denico Autry. I also liked Tannehill. He was a good fit for this O.

But then he fell for the hype by using up a third rounder for Willis when he needed O-line help badly. The one I will never forgive him for is not taking Trey when he needed O-linemen. With all of the health/injury issue guys that goober took, to pass on a plug and play beast perfectly suited for this O scheme while inking an over the hill, injury prone Safford was an unforgivable offense. He had 5 rounds to take him and passed.

Too much stuff like that along with Brown and it became buh-bye time. Glad they moved on.
