I'm surprised we haven't had any Defensive players enter the portal especially at DB. Given the number of guys we have committed, we will have something like 20 DBs on the roster + any transfers. It could be that so many of them got playing time and it will pretty much be a position battle for all 5 starting spots so they are all gonna see how it shakes out in the spring.
It's early----it's a 45 day window portal

How long has this 8% rule been around? 12 games in a season now...so if you miss one (8.3%) then youre ineligible ? Lmao...so back when Charlie Ward won his heisman wasnt he out a game or 2 that year? Hell there were only 10 games played in a season then....that would have been 10-20% missed.
Not seriously, I'm just stating how absurd this is.

Wtfff

Heisman is and has been since before Manning a team award. They should just change it to that and stop the charade.

But USC finished behind TN and Caleb Williams is in there?

I mean I'm not disagreeing and basically we need to most likely be undefeated and heading into the CFPs for them to name our best player a Heisman finalist...and even then they will probably still give it to a ****ing Big 10 defensive player that fell on a fumble one time or something.

We should’ve seen it coming when they named Hooker SEC offensive player of the year. It’s a total joke, Josh Pate hit the nail on the head. They hate us, it’s that simple

All in your head, VOLSONLY. The coolest people on this board all agree.

Haven't let much bother me post-USCjr loss,

But this has me ****ing infuriated. For Hendon. This is complete BS. There is no possible way to explain this away. **** the Heisman morons.
I truly am dumbfounded that anyone would think he would be invited based on the history of the award and what they value.

You get hurt and your team loses twice. It's not Anti Tennessee bias. It's playoff bias. Always has been.
That's what's so stupid. Rewarding QBs with elite defenses and still way worse stats.

This award is meaningless unless your defense can drag you to the playoffs.

If our defense shut down USCjr he'd be in. That is DUMB.

Williams is not hurt. He was still playing when the voters voted and is in a huge market. It's not that surprising.

In case some of you haven't realized it yet, it's Tennessee vs everybody. If there's something we want, we've got to be good enough to go take it. If you give them room to slight Tennessee, they'll do it. Hendon would've had to beat South Carolina on his own, stayed healthy, and put up ridiculous numbers against Vandy in the rain to just get invited. The last 15 years have allowed the college football world to look down at Tennessee and that's not going to change until this program leaves them no other choice.

I think we're positioned well to do it.

It's not new. Been that way for decades.

They know the Vols can compete with any of the media complex darlings when we're up: Penn St., Ohio St., Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami, the SEC field. The Vols are a risk when all cylinders are clicking. This is where the pushback comes from.

The polls, The Heisman and anything to do with college sports is nothing more than a popularity contest. They are Judged and Voted on by a bunch one time players with a vested interest in their School or Conference and a bunch of sports writers that have never played the sport or were never good enough to play well and they use their platform to simply elevate who they deem is worthy.

He’s always hated on the Heisman process, saying the people that vote for the award don’t even really watch CFB, and this is the reason why right here. Pate knows, and he’s right.
Of course they don't. They look at who is at the top. They didn't vote yesterday. Most probably voted before the championship games. Think about it. They are a gaggle of idiots who have no idea what the trophy should mean.
