"Me" power. Takes the focus off the team finishing the season with a big momentum win. That's the nature of college sports now, which makes it even harder to build and maintain a team-first culture. UT has been successful so far.

The Stoops Strategy says a lot about UK.

Same for Nico. That's why I think we need another QB from the portal. No guarantee TJ sticks around and I have no faith in Milton.

I think portal nonsense needs to move to January 10th and get rid of the early signing period. The ESD was great before the portal but now it's a hinderance. Me first in the off-season is whatever. During it? It's a little silly. Needs to be at the end for all sports.

Yeah the “me” power is shifting from the coaches who make millions to the players who are the product on the field. I’m personally all for it. Adapt or die. This is a billion dollar industry.

A lot of this could’ve been avoided if the coaches/schools would’ve lobbied the NCAA harder over the years for programs that would be in the interest of the players. But they liked having all the power. Made their jobs easier. If they would’ve partnered with players for changes and worked with them then they likely could’ve avoided this being the Wild Wild West. Could’ve had a contract in place with agreed upon parameters for this whole thing.

Players had been complaining for a long time. It wasn’t a new phenomenon. But they were shrugged off.

Now instead the coaches/schools got smacked upside the head with reality.

It's the new way. No more transitioning or five-year rebuilds-- name-brand, resource-rich programs can build a championship contender from the portal. Lincoln Riley just portaled SC to the threshold of the playoffs. Coaches that can do that can name their terms at programs that are serious about winning championships. Home-state glue guys are great to have, but NIL and the portal have changed the sport. It will evolve, but there will be comers and goers.

I don't think there is a 25 limit anymore. Just the 85 limit.

I like Heups "new age" approach to todays game and I think we'll be successful long term with his approach. It's also why I see Sabin leaving soon.

I also think the next two years will be the Wild Wild West and then things will start to settle down as everyone starts understanding the new normal a little better.

The only cap is the 85-cap on the roster. No 25-cap on the class, no 7-cap either. The only cap is 85. So numbers are still uncertain until we know who leaves.

Football evolves slower than any other sport.

which I guess kinda makes sense because you play so few games. Less opportunity to experiment. And the punishment for being wrong is harsh.

85 is what counts this year: "For the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years, the NCAA lifted the scholarship limits on classes and simply is allowing schools to sign as many players as it needs to reach the annual 85-scholarship limit."

Anyone see any transfer restrictions on the horizon? I imagine that they'd like to do something, but I do not know if they have the legal ability to restrict this nonsense.

Disagree on Hyatt if he’s a first or second he needs to go collect that check. His elite speed will push him up the draft boards.
