I've been thinking about this.
I don't know USC's overall talent situation, but in relation to many of the other candidates, what Hooker did here in year two, with the Jeremy Pruitt leftovers and some transfers, coming in to the season unranked....
To throw a game winner against Pitt in ot on the road, completely man handle Florida, understanding the context of that game for this program and what it meant to win that game...
then to go to LSU and dominate there, come home and out duel Bryce young and beat Alabama for the first time in 15 years... Throttle UK and Missouri.
Get Tennessee to #1.
And as for Heisman moments... Take your pick...99 yard drive against Florida to end the half. The 40 yard run in that game...I mean c'mon.
Throws a game winning td against Pitt in overtime.
5 TD's against Bama. Oh, and led a game winning drive in 13 seconds... No big deal.
And he's just an all around decent human being that represents his university and what college football is supposed to be about as well or better than anyone else.
And not to mention the story of how he winds up at Tennessee, much less leading us to a historic season, in the first place.
Does he deserve a trip to NYC? Of course.
But here's another truth that won't get told... He STILL deserves to win the stupid thing.
Tl;Dr version... Hooker for Heisman, tell your friends.
