That’s not entirely accurate… Rattler completed over 70% of his passes in every game with 10 TDs and 3 int …… struggled in the Texas game…. Was replaced and they rolled with Caleb Williams the rest of the year.No excuse for that...none. Rattler was known to be able to get streaky hot sometimes. He had played some very good games at Okie...that was the reason for all the optimism going into his last year in Norman...then "good" DCs figured out his weaknesses, and shut his ass down leading to Caleb taking his job.
Our great DC did none of those things. Rattler is horrid under pressure and totally freaks out...so does Banks throw together some great blitz packages to thriw him off early?...nope...he backs off his DBs 10 yards time after time after time in a soft zone while occasionally sending 5 guys in simple easily identifiable plays that we have done a million times this year on film...he made it easy for Rattler to get ridiculously hot by giving him ridiculously easy plays to execute early in the game.
People thinks that if you get better players that these coaches will automatically be able to coach and scheme them up. We can get all the better players we want but we still have the same inept coaches who cant put our so called medicore players in decent positions to make a play.I have long been an advocate for “better players”. Been involved in many a “stars” discussion here.
We need better players, and a better scheme.
-Eric CainI do not think they are the best of friends. especially after Beamer showed his a$$ late in the game out on the numbers pointing at Tennessee's sideline. Dude acted like a child, not the HC of a Power 5 program.
I understand his antics to an extent with trying to be the cool guy, but it's cringe. You add that to some comments he makes in pressers and the way he acted Saturday - it will end badly over there whenever it does.
