A recruiting ranking isn't based on any one game or data point. You're attempting to make a comparison based off one game. It would be as ignorant as claiming our defense is better than Bama's because they gave up over 30 points to LSU and we gave up less than 14. You can't make sure bold assertions off one game
I'm not looking at one game. I'm looking at games all the way back to last season. The KY game did it for me. We've won this season in spite of his pathetic defense.

Just wanted to drop in and say it's been a blast hanging out here the last few month's.Weve had one hell of a season fellas.Yea i know it ain't been all cherry gum drops and lollipops and the loss hurts all of us.This is the most excited I've been in years and I trust Heupel to make proper adjustments if needed.

I gotta stay away from the board this place is more toxic than the Springfield Power Plant.I get fans are frustrated and if ur a Titans fan it feels like Deja Vu all over again huh??Let's go whoop on little brother this weekend but in the end remember it's just football!

You mean the game where we held Kentucky to their losing scoring game of the season? Yeah that was truly pathetic

I just think the secondary was in a worse spot than we realized...and unfortunately Willie/Banks haven't fixed it yet.

If you deep dive then it's not too difficult to realize it's a multi layered issue.

1. Talent is missing, the 2023 class has more top 500 players in the secondary than are currently on the roster (let that sink in).
2. Pruitt & Co. poorly recruited and poorly developed the secondary while here.

The best talent that Pruitt/Co. had brought in that was stayed at UT was Alontae Taylor (former WR) & Jaylen McCollough.

Tyus Fields - transferred out
Warren Burrell - outside top 500
Key Lawrence - top 100, transferred out

Frustrating that so many of the Pruitt recruits didn't pan out. Because the roster is still performing with talent that was inherited.

Just the top 500 guys that are gone.
Wanya Morris, Henry To'o To'o, Quavaris Crouch, Eric Gray, Tyus Fields, Jackson Lowe, Savion Williams, Melvin McBride, Brian Maurer, Key Lawrence, Harrison Bailey, Malachi Wideman, Morven Joseph, Martavius French, Dee Beckwith, Aaron Willis, Kaidon Salter, Kaemen Marley, Julian Nixon, Tiyon Evans,

I think the Vandy of the last two weeks is much better than they’ve been all season.

I also think that Milton playing could be an advantage. There’s no tape of him starting for 14 months. He’s not going to look like he did vs Pitt 2021 so Vandy will be going into this game somewhat blind defensively.

I would have thought our game vs them would have looked like their game against Ole Miss.

Now I have no reason to think we'll keep them under 31 at a minimum.

Time for Heupel and the staff to empty their pockets of all the trick plays, gadget plays, super schemes that they were saving for a hopeful trip to the playoff.

2 TDs from our RBs
at least 1 TD from Fant in any form
3 total TDs from Milton

You would think that that would be enough.

Fields wasn’t good either. He landed at Old Dominion which is the level I would guess a lot of our current defensive backfield would end up if they transferred

>we are in the Pac12 now

>SC is down there just south of the middle. They were so bad before they smoked us that their complete beatdown of us still has them on the line of "bad everything" and south of the "good offense" line

>Vanderbilt is way down there with the worst of the worst. We should be able to hand the ball off every play and win if we want.

Amazing that FSU who lost 3 in a row to the only ranked teams they faced is that close to Georgia...

What?

Kentucky's offense averaged 32.3 PPG last year, they scored 42 against us which was their 4th highest total of the year. They were held under 40 by 8 of the 13 teams they faced. Do you even watch football?

This season, we held Kentucky to their lowest points of the season. Idk why that’s hard to understand.

The main takeaway to me is that when any game times are announced for conference away games, we should all hope they are not night games.

Very true. Home field advantage has been huge for us this year and I feel like a large part of the success is due to us having a favorable home/away schedule. Does anyone really think we win that Bama game if it was in Tuscaloosa? Florida game?

Outside of the LSU game, we've struggled mightily this year on the road. Playing on the road is a big deal and in the SEC is even bigger, and if it happens to be at night it's just that much tougher.

Thinking we need trick plays to beat Vandy…🤮

So if Milton was "showing" recruits what next year could be like to end the Missouri game I fully expect Vandy to get an absolute front row seat. No clue how the defense will play, but I am positive the offense will be in "TD every possession" mode for the full 4 quarters.

Milton may arguably be a better runner than Hooker as well because he's bigger and really doesn't do much juking/stutter stepping. He'll get going north/south and let his speed/size take care of the rest. Milton has a stronger arm so the deep threat will be a threat from our 20 yard line on basically. Our OL should be motivated and pissed. Our WRs should be motivated and pissed. We may score 70.

Defense may give up 50 though.

Ok Upward sports. Guess we should let the kids have fun and losing doesn’t matter. Talk crap even though you suck. LMAO

Losing matters for sure. That's why we have to recruit. If we have the option of two equal corners and one gets up and talks trash after a bad play and the other hangs his head, give me the kid running his mouth 100% of the time.

Another road conference game at night.

Did you think we had a good defensive roster coming into the season given how much talent we had lost? I didn’t.

But in year two we held them to their lowest offensive output of the season. That’s impressive
That game in Lexington where we had more talent by your measure where our illustrious DC rushed 3 when we had them in like 4th and 40. Put what you claim is zero talent in a position to cover for 5 min. Most defensive coordinators worth a nickel would have sent the house knowing that there was virtually no way the receivers could get down field before they got to the qb. It's was as big of a bone headed play that I've ever witnessed.

I can handle 6-6 or 7-5…. I can’t handle losing to Vandy….. I don’t think it will happen though…. Go Vols…. Finish strong.
I mean Vandy is 5-5 against us over the last 10 years and until Pruitt’s second year had 5 of the last 7 against us so I think we have all learned to handle losing to Vandy.

I’m just not sure how much the team cares any more. Their leader on offense is lost for the year. The playoff is out of reach. Vandy needs this one to get to bowl eligibility. It’s all a very bad mixture.
