Bryce Brown (CLOSED)

I don't think most people mean it like that. I'm one of those people that thinks he has a good chance to start as a freshman. Not because Creer/Hardesty aren't that talented, but because he is that talented (imo).

I certainly hope that he IS that talented. He ended up as Rivals #1 overall player, but Matt Barkley and a couple of others held that spot for awhile too. I'm excited at the idea of landing him and I would have no problem if he came in and rushed for 1,400 yards. I just tend to be more on the cautious side when it comes to high profile recruits. We've had more that didn't work out than those that have. Especially at runningback for us. Just like a lot of other schools have had similar issues.

I'm pretty sure Bryce can relate to people like you, and the media, taking cheap shots like this.

Actually, Kiffin taking cheap shots is exactly what most of the publicity has been about. And it isn't just me taking notice. Do I need to post a list of links to the various takes available in the media to back this up? If Brown did choose Oregon, is that all it would take for Kiffin to turn around and say something disparaging about Brown and his decision?

Kiffin will be made or broken by the results on the field. All this talk hasn't swayed any recruits from taking a look at the Vols yet and I doubt very seriously it will. As far as it somehow affecting Browns future as an NFL'er as you previously suggested, that assertion is beyond belief. It's about winning. Haters will hate. Brown surely knows that by now.

Maybe if it was an assertion, you could say that the assertion was beyond belief. Since it was only a question, an answer would be fine.

I don't think it's an unreasonable question to ask. Given the personas that both parties have put forward, there seems to be a contrast. Brown has presented himself as a down to earth, low-key, Christian student. Kiffin has presented himself as a brash, hard-sell, win-at-all-costs competitor. Nobody at UT is concerned that Kiffin's approach might over-shadow players such as Brown? No chance that UT could become known as the team with the coach people love to hate rather than the team with the awesome running game?

It's easy for any homer to say that they won't think that way. Of course they won't. But, others outside of UT might. I'm just asking if anyone thinks that matters at all? I know that I would be concerned if some of these things happened at UO.

your long post are very irritating....especially this late. just letting ya know. o and .........................

UT> Oregone

Think down the road about how the Brown story might be handled in coverage. Because of the aggressive way Kiffin has approached things, a lot of the talk will undoubtedly be focused on Kiffin and the way he was able to talk good recruits into joining the team, ruffled lots of feathers on the way, etc. That's a much different type of story than hearing about a kid that just clicked with a coach where the focus is more on the player. Nobody at UT is concerned that Kiffin has drawn too much attention to himself? Ultimately, at the end of the day, college football is supposed to be about the players front and center. But, maybe that's just my opinion that others don't share.

We'll have to see how things play out. But, I think it's a valid question and I'm curious what the non-homer take is on it at UT.

that is a good question.....It really doesnt bother me. I have not thought about it like that. Also IMO i like kiffin ruffeling the feathers like he is, it is something new. we were used to phillip not doing anything except for "looking at the film" and what not. I love the fact that Kiffin doesnt take crap from anyone.

and My opinion of the Jeffery deal, all coaches say it, its just if what they said is made public.

Fair enough. It just didn't seem like anyone gave him crap. He came out throwing the crap first. But, I can respect the appeal of a fiery coach to a degree.

I also agree that Kiffin isn't the only one making those comments. One article I read said Pete Carroll said similar things. Given Carroll's behavior on the side-lines, I absolutely believe it. But, for whatever reason, it seems like we're hearing about this stuff from Kiffin left and right. Maybe he isn't as careful about it as others?

I'm sorry do I not speak your language?

Bryce run ball good! Going go UT!

If you have a problem understanding what I said, that says more about you than it does me.

So you are saying our coach doesn't align with a Christian player's viewpoint? You're already spewing sour grapes and we haven't even signed him yet!:eek:lol: Scouts notice talent. Numbers help, sure. Bryce will get those wherever he goes. As I said, the assertion you are making (which you convenient disguise as a question) is a ridiculous one. You're basically dogging our coach. What the hell answer do you expect to get?

I guess I should listen to this since you pretty much wrote the book on being a homer. Let me explain something, and this is outside of Brown, we are TEN-UH-SEE! You are Oregon. That will stay the same no matter where Brown goes, but I would say just from a respect standpoint, our school would be favored over yours in a landslide. UT>Oregon always has been, always will be.

What you are saying about our perception is just plain inaccurate. Players will judge a coach based on their interaction with them. They aren't going to let the media decide who they do or don't like.

This whole post REEKS of sour grapes to me. You realize Brown is never coming there....finally and you are not-so-auspiciously-as-you-think trying to insult our school.

yes he does........from what all i have gathered.

1. BB is coming to visit soon with his parents
2. BB is leaning to UT
3. VSPN= next VN guru (he has great info)

4. BB has a great trust in BB and tells him somethings, so always trust VSPN on what he says

:eek:lol::eek:lol:

I would crap all colors of the rainbow in one turd if that happens.

BB will be a Cane, book it.

I can assure you, I haven't made the assertion you accuse me of. That's why I wrote, "We'll have to see how things play out." I'm also not dogging your coach. It could just be the way he rolls. It may turn out to be an effective and deliberate strategy. Why are you so sensitive about it? Just own it if you think it's the right way to do things.

Quite different from assertion, I am questioning whether or not Kiffin's negative publicity is bad for Brown. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. We would have to see how it plays out to know and for me to assert anything happened.

Do you deny that Kiffin has received an abundance of negative publicity?

What you are saying about our perception is just plain inaccurate. Players will judge a coach based on their interaction with them. They aren't going to let the media decide who they do or don't like.

I'm not talking about "[y]our" perception. I'm talking about public perception of the program and how that might affect Brown.

I agree that players are going to have a direct experience to judge for themselves. However, I think that they also have to observe what the coaches relationship is with the rest of the industry, including the media. If a team becomes the subject of much derision due to the conduct of a coach, that's a distraction from the players just playing football. It's baggage.

This whole post REEKS of sour grapes to me. You realize Brown is never coming there....finally and you are not-so-auspiciously-as-you-think trying to insult our school.

One, I don't think the situation is resolved. He could go anywhere. I see this just as relevant football subject, related to Brown. Maybe it's an uncomfortable subject for you as a UT fan.

Two, it's not an "insult to your school." Kiffin is not your school. Given what has happened, I'm just curious, hence asking, whether or not everyone there is on board with it. I assume that UT fans have mulled it over far more than I have. So, I'm just wondering what the considerate take is there (vs. the we're greater than all no matter what take).

Lane Kiffin's family.. You really should quit attacking the person and show some dignity. They also have a newborn son named Knox. FWIW.

I wasn't referring to whether or not he has a family. I'm referring to the personality type that would be appealing to a family sending their son off to be coached by. Maybe the coverage I have seen is misleading and there's a different side to Kiffin. But, he doesn't appear to me to be the best guy to pitch to a family. More like the guy to take the kids out on the town.

A little birdy came to BBrown during his fast.

This little birdy was, in fact, God. And was seen by BB as the letters G-O-D.

"Go Orange, Dude."

So he went to Syracuse. Bummer.
