I’d disagree about historically “sucking” Tennessee is a Top 25-30 basketball program history wise. One of the better SEC ones as well. While not Kentucky, Kansas Duke or UNC but It wouldn’t be fair to say the history “sucks”What legitimately bothers me so much about Barnes haters is that they care more about being right than they do about Tennessee winning games or the end product.
It's like a fetish they have for Barnes failing. I don't understand the obsession.
Basketball wins huge games and it's crickets. Lose an early season game when you're breaking in a new group of guys - and your heart and soul big man goes down with a bad ankle injury and that leads to getting owned in the paint - and it's like a celebration. "I tOLd yOu SO!"
Tennessee historically sucks at basketball. We currently have a hall of fame coach, one of the winningest coaches in basketball history, coaching in Knoxville. He's won regular season and tournament SEC titles. He took this program from the bottom of the barrel to #1 rankings.
He's getting players drafted annually for the first time since.... ever?
Go look at Tennessee basketballs historic recruits.
6/10 all time recruits in TN history have been brought here by Barnes. (But I thought he couldn't recruit?) 3 by Pearl, 1 by Martin.
Rick Barnes is building report in this basketball program. He's making us nationally relevant for the long haul. He's making us a destination for a GENERATION of youth basketball players.
He may never have Final Four at Tennessee but if some of you would open your eyes you'd realize we are better in the long run because of him and what he's doing.
Today's performance means the guys need to work on chemistry and forming an identity. It means a big man needs to step up in place of Uros. That's it. 4 months of basketball to be played and it isn't decided in game 2.
It matters because I got a hell of a lot of ole miss fans I would like to mess with. If it’s true, then I could say I told you so.Does it really matter what that little pencil necked geek does. He will go wherever he thinks he can get the most air time or twitter likes. He wants to coach a big time school again....and then move up to the next one and so on until people get tired of his schtich.
LOL, I understand that. I don't really think he will ever be satisfied. He would do well at Auburn then he will be in line to go to Bama to take over from his could have been daddy in law........just a rumor. When given the reins he has a habit of screwing up, just look at his past history and all the baggage that seems to follow him behind the scenes. It matters because I got a hell of a lot of ole miss fans I would like to mess with. If it’s true, then I could say I told you so.
Uhmm...how old are you? After Ray Mears was a looooong wasteland of pure garbage. While I don't think you could characterize the Tennessee BB program as "the dregs of the SEC", it has been the pure definition of "Meh" pretty much my whole adult life until Green had a few decent teams and then Pearl did his thing and then right back to just less than mediocre hell, until Rick Barnes resurrected it from disaster.I’d disagree about historically “sucking” Tennessee is a Top 25-30 basketball program history wise. Prayers sentI’d like to ask everyone that would to pray for my stepdad, my dad passed when I was 9 months old so he’s been my dad my entire life. They have found a mass on or around his bladder. We are waiting for an appointment in Vanderbilt so they can get a biopsy done. It’s so hard to have any peace in this life anymore. TIA
