Mincey played. They kept swapping them. Mincey had a “false start” before the ball was technically set b/c both teams subbed.

Yeah, I remember that. I may be showing more dumb than I care to but I didn't think that you could get a false start in that situation. If there is no way that the ball can be legally snapped then why can't the OL move?

I'd go ahead and be prepared to be 5 or 6 in the AP poll, understanding that those rankings mean absolutely nothing through the end of the year.

Tuesday we'll probably be 4, 5 at worst.

Then we let everyone else handle their own business and see where we stack up. Ready to bury two particularly annoying head coaches these next two games then rub little brother's face in it.

Really is crazy the fork in the road that UGA and Bama took since Kirby has been at UGA. Do they still have that S&C coach that Kirby took from Bama too?

Georgia would easily beat Bama this year.

What do you mean fork in the road?

Since Kirby took over UGA in 2016, Bama has won 3 conf titles and 2 national championships while playing in 3 more national champ games and have compiled a record like 85-7 or something stupid.

This year and 2019 will be the only seasons since Kirby left for UGA that Bama won’t play in the title game.

The committee has flexibility in which metrics they want to apply and how they weight them. And they will weight the best matchups, because that's the engine that drives everything. There will be little appetite for an SEC-SEC rehash. So assuming UGA, not OSU/UM is #1, they'll have to justify ranking UT #3... which can be done if the dominos fall the right way. But there are too many variables and too many games and championships to be played to know how the dominos will fall.
I doubt people want to see Oregon get smashed by Georgia again either. But they are losing and so are others so we will get in.

Pretty much!

Even if we get left out at 5 or 6 and go to the SUGAR BOWL, and WIN. That's an awesome season!

We don't have to go to the playoff for this to be a successful season.

Winning a NY6 game on the big stage with everyone watching anyway, especially if our offense is high flying and impressive, will do just as much if not more for recruiting and this program's momentum.
True--we get lost in ifs and buts, but this is a great season. We should all be thrilled with what Hype has done with this rag tag roster of loyal players.

Forget who tweeted it but I remember seeing posts in the game thread during the game that UGA had seemed to figure out when we were running vs passing. Something we did was tipping them off. Anyone remember? I don’t want to dig back through the game thread.
IDK if they were getting running or passing tells, but they key'd our snap really well. After all the false starts we basically always had to go on one, as soon as Hooker clapped his hands their linebackers were flying down so they were in the backfield before the O lineman had a chance to look up.

In terms of the players on the field.

Georgia is running around with Bama's 2008-18 mutants on their defense.

Kirk Herbstreit already started yesterday, the media doesnt want 2 SEC teams in the playoffs again. Our resume would get us in over over TCU because TN is the bigger brand, but they 100% would rather put Oregon in to get eyes from the WC on the playoffs. The committee doesnt give 2 ***** about resume they want the best tv ratings for the dollar signs. The country is bored with SEC dominance, the only way 2 SEC schools get in is if TN is the only one left with one loss.

Bill O'Brien should have been fired before the team left BR.

How do you have the best pure QB, Heisman QB and Alvin Kamara 2.0 and you can't move the ball and score with ease?

Not to mention Bama has THE most talented roster in the country and they've struggled a couple of times with lesser opponents and taken 2 losses.

This season is Saban's biggest failure at Alabama.

I think the committee will have some recency bias. Our loss was much later in the season, but I totally get what you are saying. Overall, our resume' is far superior, but if the committee perceives that Oregon is playing like a playoff team, they could put them in.

If the Ducks win out and beat a ranked team for the PAC-12 championship, they'll have to be considered. Their ugly UGA loss was at the start of the season with new coaches and a new QB, and they're making the case that they're a much better team now. Ditto #9 SC with a one-point L to #14 Utah. UT's ugly loss @ UGA opened the door. It will sort itself out as games are played, but IDT UT is a lock to get in... or be kept out. Too many scenarios in play with more rerankings to come.

Some doomsday scenarios:

1) Georgia and LSU win out and UGA somehow loses to LSU in the SECCG.

2) Michigan and Ohio St win out and play an absolute classic in The Game.

3) TCU wins out.

4) One of Oregon or USC wins out.

If 2 or more of those things happen then we are in trouble.

I don't think there's more than a 5% chance of 2 of those things happening though.
OSU or Michigan loser is out. Their SOS is terrible.

Georgia definitely looked like they had the better athletes
It was the difference

We had our defenders in good spots or almost making great plays several times. That Bennett scramble TD is exhibit A. If our defenders are one step faster then that's a huge loss for them. Instead, we got to him but didn't drop him and UGA scored.

UGA defenders were also making great plays 1v1, getting to and tackling the ball carrier immediately, on the spot, not giving up any sort of yards gang tackling or letting the ball carrier fall forward. On the contrary, our guys would get to the ball carrier but need help making the tackle or give up 3-5 extra yards finishing the play.

It's a small difference that adds up a lot over the course of a 60 minute game.

That's to say nothing of the guys they have playing corner that look like safeties but run like all-American CBs.

We're going to get to see the mettle of this team and I'm excited for it. Last year, the team rebounded well after each loss and won every subsequent game with the exception of the Alabama game (which came after the questionable loss to Ole Miss, but I digress). I know Hooker got pressured and hit a ton yesterday so I will be interested to see if that has messed with the timing in his head. Hopefully he can snap, clear, and resume the way he was playing in previous games.

While I would not have chosen a loss to UGA, yesterday probably played out in the best possible way. If you can get in to the playoff without having to play in the SECCG, that is the ideal path. You essentially get another bye. Take care of business. Beat these next three scrubs like we should and let's finish strong. Would love another rematch with UGA. If they beat us again on a neutral field site, you just have to tip your cap to the better team. That being said, we have got to get some of these big bowl games out of Atlanta. No reason UGA should essentially get home games in both the SECCG and a playoff game. At a minimum, the SECCG should move to Nashville which is pretty much equidistant for most of the SEC.

Just my $0.02. That and four dollars will buy you a coffee at starbucks.

Who's winning the SC-UCLA game? I'll be at the Rose Bowl so it would be really cool to know beforehand so I can tell everyone.

(Joke alert.)

They'll also have 4 top 25 wins by the point as well. Same as us.

UCLA
Washington will be 25 next rankings
Top 10 Utah
Top 10 whoever in the Pac 12

That's really the only team that worries me
