A 2024 recruit with no 247/Rivals/On3 profile that the staff is showing interest in.

-VQ

I can't find any football highlights on this kid, only basketball. His Twitter bio says he plays TE and DE. I'm curious what position we're recruiting him to play? A 6'9 280lb athletic TE in this offense is a scary prospect.

Yes. Having trouble at present with top targets such as Carter, Dowdell, can’t get Tate or Rogers to visit, literally nothing is happening in the ‘23 class.

That doesn’t mean the class isn’t good or that we won’t close strong, but I thought being 7-0 would have more affect on the current class and it isn’t.
Are you just ignoring Hobbs who is a five star defensive lineman in which we are going to beat out Bama, Georgia, and Ohio state?

This has to be done…

Winning isn’t curing our ‘23 recruiting woes. Hopefully it will help ‘24. Seems to be

We’re being out recruited by Fl who sucks. We haven’t gotten anyone since the season started for the ‘23 class. We were just pushed out of the top 10.

I’m sure we’ll close strong but we aren’t seeing the kind of momentum for this class I thought we would after this start. Again, can’t even get some of our top targets to visit. Ga may be about to flip the RB commit for AU, we can’t even get him to answer the phone.

I mean, I like the ‘23 class, but it can be a lot better and so far we have no momentum since the start of the season in ‘23 recruiting

That dudes going to Bama, brother

No, if we land Hobbs and flip Stanton we’ll have a shot at a top 10 class. That would be a great close. I just didn’t think we’d be talking about a shot at a top 10 class after this start. Thought it would be guaranteed

No it’s not, Jake! The world is ending!

We’re being out recruited by Florida. That’s frustrating.

We gotta get those 4/5 stars tho mane

I’ll cry if I want to

Nah. We should stop recruiting all together and have a roster equivalent with vandy. talent doesn’t matter!

I’m not. I know you’re the proverbial instigator and smartazz on this board, but read a freaking book why don’t you. And just because you can’t believe someone has had an experience that you haven’t, doesn’t make it untrue.

Glitch is the instigator? More like instant taters…

How many real difference makers enter the portal? How many schools will be trying to snag them? I'm just not as convinced as some that the portal will be a magic cure-all. I certainly hope it is, I just don't have faith that it will be.
Magic cure all? No. But there was a lot of angst last year when we couldn't do anything in the portal over the winter. This year we can, and will. And I think there'll be legit interest, if there's not already, from players that can help us fill some needs.

And just having the opportunity to get s few guys in here for the spring semester is a good thing.

There you go, talking out of your a$$ like you invented the encyclopedia and everything in it.

“While they usually hunt alone, they usually hibernate in communal dens and often return to the same den every year. Beane said that populations in the "montane" (a forest area below the timberline with large, coniferous trees) often spend the winter hibernating "with timber rattlesnakes, rat snakes or other species."
Copperhead snakes: Facts, bites & babies

And you’re right about the chasing part, mostly. Snakes don’t chase people, at least for no reason. Snakes largely try to mind their own business, like the majority of the animal kingdom, unless they feel threatened or starved. I picked up plenty snakes as a child that were minding their own business and never once felt scared or threatened by them. That said, we unearthed a large rock, with multiple copperheads under it (who are ambush predators), who probably were very surprised (just as we were), felt cornered, and were probably not too happy when we dropped the rock in fear, and they absolutely chased us up a ravine. I’m not really afraid of animals (expect horses for some reason-mainly that they’re friggin huge), but that day I was terrified.

I’m not saying it’s a common experience, but it happened. And I’m not spreading misinformation. And maybe it’s unfair for me to characterize them as foul because of the one close encounter experience I had with them, but it is what it is and that is one species I will not come within a few paces of because of it.
Communists, as suspected.

Pointing out reality on her is never popular, and is almost always seen as being negative, but I'm going to do it anyway. We tried pretty hard to do some things in the transfer portal, but we simply got outbid. We went after Verse. He ended up at FSU. We had Neyor committed. He flipped to Texas. (Sidenote: that turned into a positive because it allowed us to take Bru.) And I can't remember names, but there was at least one more Edge player we went after and didn't get. Pretty sure there were a couple of others, at various positions, we were interested in, but ultimately didn't get. Because we were outbid in this new era of NIL. That's not on the coaches, so please don't make it out like I'm blaming them. But we had a couple of spots and just couldn't get the right fits. And that's where my hesitancy on the portal comes from. It's a meat market, and these kids are looking to get paid. The portal is far more "mercenary" than high school recruiting is. And there will be plenty of schools willing to pony up the cash.

As far as our current recruiting goes, I don't think there's anything wrong with Bass's thinking that our success should have turned at least a few heads in the current class. And maybe it has, and we don't know about it. I said in a previous post that the '23 class wasn't done yet. New names could still possibly emerge. Flips can happen. And AP doesn't know everything. It's okay to acknowledge we haven't filled all of our needs yet. That's not being negative, that's just seeing what is plain as day. My personal opinion is we are an OT and a couple of DL away from addressing our needs. Anything after that is gravy. And we still have people at those positions on the line.

I really don't care where we end up in the recruiting rankings as long as we address our needs. We're still attempting to do just that. But it also doesn't change that I hate seeing rivals ranked ahead of us. I'm competitive. I always want to see my Vols come out on top. And personally, I think the way they do the rankings is a little messed up anyways because I've always felt that whether or not you fill your need positions should be taken into account.

What is this that stands before me,
Figure in black that points at me,
Turn round quick and start to run,
Find out I'm the chosen one (chosen victim that is).
Oh, no, no, no, please God help me!!!

This may be the end my friend,
Volunteers coming round the bend,
Pussycats running 'cause they're scared,
Pussycats better go and beware.

- Kentucky players probably

Sabbath babyyyyy! Would be epic if they came out to that song!
