Show me the report where a witness other than the drunk guy states he fell down the stairs.

At this point at best we know there was blood at the bottom of the stairs and the GF and another witness were helping him at the bottom of the stairs. The rest is speculative, which was my point.
Which means he fell down the stairs at one point or another. That doesn’t mean JM punched him at the top of the stairs, lol. You’re arguing just to argue like when people were trying to pretend it was speculation that JM punched him at all.

The police acted based on one guy's unsubstantiated claims. Tank no commented and immediately retained counsel. UT swiftly investigated, reviewed the evidence, evaluated all sides of the story and felt the circumstances didn't warrant the charges filed. So Tank wasn't suspended by UT, allowing him to remain with the team while the student conduct process was completed.

He was cleared by the university, but will not play without admin approval. And while UT and counsel have been working to have the felony charge reduced or dismissed, that has been slow going. The legal hold up is not on UT's side, but the "unavailable to play" is.
This is unreal! Let the kid play. Where is innocent until proven guilty, especially in this case?! This is laughable on our administration part to not let a senior play over something like this, while a Bama player is caught in video smacking a woman with no repercussions!!

Could have just as easily fallen down at the bottom of the stairs too, still that's speculative without a witness confirming it. All we know is he was at the bottom of the stairs and even that's an assumption I'm making without having seen the actual statement/reports myself and going based on what's shared here.

I’m sure he was just resting his face on the stair. Was a nice comfy pillow. Needed a quick nap after losing a couple of teeth.

Cheers, Tears, and Joy coming right back. No one will understand that feeling and emotion when that kick went through unless you are a Vol fan.
Any other time I would've already been celebrating as soon as McCoy caught that last pass. After MT. Cody and all the other ways we've managed to lose a game at the end. . . I still didn't believe it until I heard Dixieland Delight start playing.

That's like saying if you're 14-0 and lose the national title game that's a disappointing SEASON.

People are missing that Enki is talking about the SEASON not some section of the season. He's talking about the full picture from beginning to end.

Nobody is disputing that. Before the season started, I would have accepted 8-4 as a good season. If we finish 8-4 and look back on the whole body of work, I will be disappointed based on "oh what might have been." You can't take that element out of it.

So in other words, he's not playing on Saturday?

UT can choose to play him on Saturday. But my understanding, as of yesterday, is that oral arguments won't be heard until next week. That could change, though it's a legal matter handled by independent counsel. UT has closed its investigation and the conduct board has ruled based on its findings.

Probably only two people know if he fell down the stairs or not. Unless there is a video of the incident. And, I agree with you. Everything is still speculative.

I thought from the report and stories I read when it came out that JMs girlfriend and the other male at the scene (which I think we know is Burrell now?) had given statements to the police on scene. If they had done that and the report didn’t mention that there were two different outlines of events, the victims version and the witnesses version, then I assumed they had corroborated the victims story.

With this new piece today, it seems like they didn’t give statements at the time and instead did like JM and waited for lawyers. Smart move if so, and if they did, then I have a much different view of the incident now than originally. All this time I thought the victims story had been corroborated at the scene by the girlfriend and another guy.

It's all a matter of chronology and order of events. But objectively 8-4 would be a good season in Y2 no matter how you jumble it up.

The thing about 2016 is the expectation was 9-3/10-2, so going 8-4, regardless of the order of events, was a disappointing year.

This year the expectation was 7-8 wins. Iirc Vegas had us at 7.5 and FPI had us at 7.6 or so. So 8-4 would still be a solid season, especially for Y2.

Not that the ending wouldn't be disappointing, but I get what Enki is saying. With THIS start to the season, nothing can happen that would make it a failure of a Y2.
If we lose four of the last five with the team as it stands now then this season would be a failure. Part of the reason 2016 was a failure was because we felt we had a chance to be SEC champs…. Right now, we are talking playoffs so ending up back at the music city bowl(or some other meaningless bowl) would be a huge failure by this team.

It doesn’t mean that we fire everyone or overreact and start a petition. We just didn’t have the season that we should have had. We will have to fix whatever issues came up or we will start to trend in the same direction jone’s teams did.

I don’t believe that will happen…. The future is amazingly bright and we are going to kick Kentucky’s azz!!! Go Vols!

10-2 would only be slightly disappointing because of what the team has done to this point. I think that it's not fair to discount the whole season if we dropped 2 games just because of the timing of the games.

There currently is an excitement of a SEC champion game/CFP playoff possibility, but I'm just going to root for it to happen and not hold it against Heupel if it doesn't happen in year 2.

I think everyone here needs an appointment with the doc! 15-0 and no looking back!

But for real—there is no doubt this team has already cemented legendary status and has brought in an entire generation of new fans. They are the ‘85 team for today’s generation.

So based on the Knoxville Police Report:

"He then state as he was walking away, he heard footsteps behind him, he turned around at the top of the stairs approximately 30 feet from the door, and was punched in the face. He fell backwards down the stairs and lost consciousness."

The pictures show a pool of blood on a total of 3 steps (near the top of the staircase), officers only report Zion had "blood and swelling on his mouth, and had multiple missing and broken teeth" no mention of head injury (the apartment is on the top level and the stairs are concrete).
