If we go 11-1 or better, how much will it take to keep Heupel at UT? It can be argued that no other coach could have accomplished as much with this roster and the situation he walked into. Somebody will come knocking with a big contract. It will take $8 million+ annually to put him in the top 10 in college football, and that will still make him 5th in the SEC. What do you guys think?

I think $6-7. Gotta show top level, every year consistency for $8. Maybe Im living in the past.

Billy Napier makes 7.1 million…. You have to go above that…I would try to give him a huge contract…. Keep the buyout reasonable if something goes horribly wrong…. Make his buyout to leave us as high as he will agree too. I have 100% faith in DW to keep him though.

Regardless of my opinion, we have an AD who will make the right decision. What he wont do is pay $800K to have a former DC mow the grass.

Kentucky is our biggest game left. The only thing that could detract from our 7-0 start and wins over Bama and Florida is an ugly upset. A loss to only #1 UGA, keeps all positive vibes rolling. We drop a game to a Kentucky team, it will spoil the way we look back on this season. The Team has to put UGA out of mind and focus on UK. This game sets up as such a perfect trap game with them having a bye and two weeks to prepare, us likely looking ahead to the big UGA game next week.

I was saying in Nick's post that Stoops game plan for us is a good one. Cutcliffe had this plan with Lamar Jackson Louisville team and almost won, if not for some bad controversial calls. The way to stop it is obviously get two scores ahead. We have a really smart good coach, but we also have a hell schedule. You can stick Ohio State, Michigan and clemson as the best ranked teams, but tell me how many top teams have they played? It's really almost unfair.. It's fun, but it's unfair. We better get serious playoff consideration if we can get through this with only one loss.

You know who's oddly salty on social media about Tennessee? Ohio State. I guess it's because they feel like Hooker is a threat to Stroud, but they really don't like us.
This is true. One of my friends last night, die hard OSU fan, was dogging UT and wanted to bet me a grand at 4 to 1 odds OSU wins everything and is by far best team in nation, and it isn't even close.

One thing that really concerns me in regards to recruiting. We score so much that our band members are totally exhausted after games from playing rockytop. It's probably going to be hard to attract the best musicians giving the amount of time they're having to play. I don't think we're incredibly deep in the tuba position.

Also, the cheerleaders that have to do the push-ups. I mean who'd want to go to a school where you're doing push-ups constantly for four hours?

@Pridedad , @Weezer , @SweetasSoda , and @VolsDoc81TX raise their hands. 😎

Kentucky is a big game to our team. No way possible do we have some sort of letdown. Trap games are typically reserved for winning programs. Tennessee is still in a mode of proving it on the field. I'd say we have a better chance of scoring 50 than we do of coming out playing flat and somehow overlooking Kentucky.

Don’t worry about it. We have the money and will pay what’s needed. They’ll sort it out in off season. I’m more worried about paying Golesh to incentivize him to stay another few years.

I think Kentucky’s game plan will be just like Florida’s… Go for it on his many fourth downs as possible, and hope to hit on all of them. I think we are going to have some chances to put them away early if we can stop them on fourth down. Remember, they have been struggling kicking field goals, so I guarantee stoops will not take any chances with longer field goals and will just go for it. They are going to challenge us to stop Rodriguez on multiple run plays in a series. Also, look for them to have a wildcat package installed with Brown or Rodriguez as the quarterback, and the other one as the running back.

Yeah these kids don’t think that, he’s pushing that imo. We’ve landed our fair share of NPA kids. We’re relevant now. Not sure how much longer he can push that agenda
Does it really matter though? We haven’t really missed out in too many players that ended up being good out of NPA.

@VolsDoc81TX
Thanks for what you do man. Yes, you’re a Vol and are always behind the rest of us with updates; however, we appreciate what you do to save lives. I’m not sure we ever said it but I wanted to make sure you know it. Thanks for your sacrifice to help us.

Thank you very much!

My specialty doesn’t have to save lives often, but I believe that we truly improve the quality of our patients lives.

Of course as a VFL, I am a beacon of hope and provide a goal for the less fortunate (non-Volunteers) to aspire to… 😎

I have never ever once lost the “real UT” argument with a longhorn. It’s a life mission as long as I live in Texas. It’s like picking on bama fans though. It’s almost too easy. There’s a ton of fair weather fand for the lonhorns too. The real diehard longhorn fans are absolutely terrified of joining the SEC. They know that mid level is the highest that they can attain. 😎

This will be the first time that we are ranked in this game since 2007
I would have thought we were ranked when we beat Georgia and Florida in 2016, and had only lost to AM until we shat the bed with South carolina or Vandy or someone we should have beat.
