There are several reasons to switch to electric drive systems. First, it would decrease the amount of fuel needed to travel to the front, reducing the number of vulnerable, fuel-laden convoys necessary to keep the tanks rolling. Second, electrical and hybrid systems are easier to upgrade and replace than internal combustion engines and transmissions. Third, such electric drive systems could be cheaper to run and easier on the planet.

I wonder how long it would take to charge an electric tank battery. 2 days?

That article isn't correct anyway...

The engine on the Abrams is multifuel and can run on a variety of gas, diesel or jet fuel...

Fun fact, many diesel engines can also run on jet fuel.

I was more bothered when Trump wanted to top off the oil reserves while oil was at an historic low after the Covid shutdowns and the Dems all refused. Oil went negative at one point because of the lack of storage. The Dems cited climate change in their opposition. Now they drain these same reserves in an attempt to alter the upcoming election.
