Ainge Nailed It

Hindsight is always best, but I had to question the end of game strategy. They hadn't stopped us all day, Hooker never throws interceptions and one or 2 more first downs would have run out the clock.
Apparently this needs repeating: if Hooker throws it to a wide open McCoy.or Fant runs 2 yards further then they take knees and this isn't even a convo.
There's been plenty of end game playcalling/clock management that has happened over the years and this ain't 1 of them.

I think his point and I agree was that the playcalling changed too early. If you think about it, there wouldn't be much discussion and the perception of the D's performance wouldn't be so bad if the game had ended 38-21. AR still would have had a good game and a season changing game.... but he threw for about 145 in those last 7 minutes. That completely changed the flavor of the win.
I dont think anyone could have foresaw them scoring nearly as many points in the last 7 minutes as they did in the first half and throw in a onside kick recovery to boot, maybe they should have but in that last 7 minutes we only had the ball once and were in position to kick a field goal, the offense performed and ate clock so I think what Heupel did made sense but I think he should have kicked the field goal, had we made it game over.

Not true, friend. No pilot shuts down the engine and glides/coasts, unless engine problems give them no other choice. They throttle down to a low setting, but keep the engine running and prop turning. Specifically because they want to be able to slam the throttle forward and attempt a touch & go if something's not right. :)

As for stopping flying, that's even less true. Some of the most meticulous moments at the stick are when they're coming in for landing. They're working harder there than anywhere else in flight. They're not gliding, they're flying the plane very deliberately until it intersects (hopefully gently) with the earth.

Go Vols!
I didn’t say they shut the engine off I said they coast/glide to the ground. The engine is throttled down to idle once runway is made, there’s no thrust being made at all. Just started solos myself! You fly? Go Vols!

Yeah, 17 hours dual instruction from my dad, who was a CFI. Left for college and never ended up getting my license, though. But I did get my degree in aerospace engineering (technically, just engineering with a "focus" in aerospace...back then, West Point only gave one degree: BS in Engineering, heh).

Believe it or not, that idled engine is still producing thrust. Just far less than in normal flight. Like in a 172, idle is around 8% to 15% of full throttle.

Go Vols!

It was a weird drive in general. It started with a 1st and 5, then a conversion, then UF started taking timeouts. I'm not sure why the TE stopped short of the sticks.

Then suddenly everything went perfectly for Florida.

But after that 99-yard drive to end the first half, UF never led again.

Only thing I enjoy more than flying is watching Tennessee win!! Can’t wait until I can fly to the games myself. My Father got me into flying as well

I’ve heard Hooker was hurting pretty bad at the end is why they were conservative the last possession. It kinda supports my theory he probably took a shot of some medication after he was initially hurt. He was clearly in pain in the 2nd Qtr but managed thru and played great 3rd Qtr. Probably the medication began to wear off by late 4th Qtr.

I know many here probably think “Oh my beloved Tennessee wouldn’t do that.” Yes they all do. It’s as part of the game as taping ankles.

It depends on the medication that you're referring to, but it's not, as part of the game as taping ankles, not even

I generally agree with the OP, but I must say, I lost a lot of confidence in the things Ainge says when he made the comment the other day that Levis would be just as good as Hooker if he were our QB. That was insane.
Agree. Good decision making is a MUST in this offense. That’s not a Levis strength.

He did not claim that he would be as good. He said he could be as good in this offense. Which could be true.

my greatest frustration with Fulmer was his "play not to lose" mentality. If he had a lead, he went into a shell and tried to run the clock out vs good teams. Most good coaches have moved on from that generally but they all have a "4 minute offense".
My greatest frustration was Chavis' Mustang D. Fulmer coached almost exactly like Saban at that point in time. If you had the lead late in the game, and you had one of the top OLs in college football, you relied on your OL and bruising RBs to physically dominate and run out the clock. It worked much more often than not. About the only times it didn't work was when we played UF and had a late lead.

Cortisone has no analgesic property other than decreasing inflammation and swelling. NSAIDs acetomenophen would be most likely. Doubt seriously any opiates would be used. Possibly local with lidocaine etc

Sorry bro, but cortisone is (has been) a staple in locker rooms for years. It's pretty standard and not a big secret.

That also explains why the keeper to the outside from Hooker was there every snap on those 4 plays but we never even tried. Pretty sure Heup knew Hooker didn’t need to take any hits to that shoulder.

Hooker made a bunch of money tonight, made throws, ran, knows how to get down…he made money!!!

One of the pretist throws you'll ever see. Looked like Peyton was on the field for a second

Also, the play call, basically quad into boundary, 3 short routes with a go, and Hooker and Hyatt diagnosed at the LOS based on leverage. Wish I could see the top of Hyatt’s route. But yeah, the body language of LSU, beat!
