I don’t get it……

Welp, I guess here’s the Legion of the Miserable.

Johnny warned us, and here’s proof they will always be miserable.
It is not a binary choice between happy and miserable. I can simultaneously enjoy a big win while seeing concerning issues that need addressed. That is called having a balanced and well adjusted point of view you know 😉
Go Vols! Congratulations. Now get some guys healthy, work on that defensive backfield, practice onside kick fielding a bit more, and go beat LSU.
Proud of a team that found a way and got a HUGE monkey off its back. Proud to be heading into October (likely) in the top ten again. And proud of the way Heupel has totally rewired the culture (setbacks did NOT paralyze this team at all).
Going to enjoy the day and trust Heup to fix what needs fixed.
But yeah, we can’t play D that way and have any hope against Bama or the Puppy Dogs

“Floridas receivers are pedestrian”

Pearsall - 3 star transfer from Arizona state. Ok. Possibly pedestrian.
Xzavier Henderson - 4 star from Miami, FL
Justin shorter - FIVE star from NJ
Daejon Reynolds - 4 star from GA
Jaquavion Fraziars - 4 star out of Florida
Trent whittemore - 3 star out of Florida
tight end Keon zipperer - 4 star out of Florida.

Stop it. Their WRs aren’t pedestrian.

to build from this, the only 4 star we have in the secondary is Jaylen McCollough. We were out-talented on Defense and we still won.

While I’ll agree our defense wasn’t great and gave up a bunch of yards. Had we not got stagnant on offense late in the 4th it woulda looked a lot different. People tend to forget in such a short time that we were up 17 points with 10 minutes left in the game.

Wish we could have used the portal a bit more for the defensive backfield. Maybe there just weren’t that many good options there. I honestly don’t know

Agreed. I can only speculate that the reason we weren't more aggressive in the portal was because of the NCAA issues and us needing to keep or scholarship numbers down. But yeah, you would've thought this staff would've brought in several transfers on the defensive side of the ball. Especially linebackers and DB's.

Idk where your reading comprehension got that I don’t have concerns and it’s not okay to have concerns? My point is every game is different and there are def things that could be corrected. Take it a game at a time. Winning isn’t easy and we got people always finding things to complain about.
It's called not being satisfied. Most Championship caliber teams and people have that drive to never be satisfied. It's painfully obvious just how many people on Volnation were never around during the Vol's days of absolute dominance in the SEC and have grown up in the "participation trophy" era of our society watching pathetic football being played in Knoxville. People around here love to talk about Peyton, or AL Wilson, and General Neyland. They had that same never satisfied attitude. Good enough was never enough. Pay attention to what past players of General Neyland had to say about him. His standard was nothing less than perfection. If you didn't do it perfect, get used to doing it over and over until it got perfect. That's why his name is on the stadium. Everybody here also loves to hate on and bitch about Saban and Alabama. I hate to break it to you, but Saban is a modern day Neyland. In fact, Saban's probably the best that's ever coached the game. Why? Because he demands perfection from not only his players but his staff as well. Get mad at that if you want to, he owns college football and his record and National Championship trophies say that fact isn't debatable. Nobody is saying they aren't glad we beat Florida. This team has improved leaps and bounds in just a few years. But, if you want to be back in the discussion with the top teams in this conference, demanding perfection from everyone involved isn't an option it's an absolute necessity.

My only problem was with Heupel ignoring the Maxims at the end of the game. We didn't put on more steam, we let off. We didn't carry the fight to the opponent for 60 minutes. When you can't stop a team no lead is too big and every lead is too small. Run wide open until the end of the game. He's let off the gas twice now in SEC games, he did vs South Carolina last year too. Never let up vs Florida, if you can score 50, do it.

Oh FFS. Even the players get 24 hours of blissful celebration before they start breaking down film and critiquing their performances! Can't we the fans be granted the same immunity before the soulless killjoys start mouthing off?

I don’t get the people who are ready to jump off a cliff because Florida put up some yards and AR had a good game. Every. Single. Game. Is going to be different, teams win in different ways every week. These coaches put in game plans and schemes all week to prepare for what they think will work to slow down the opponent. This isn’t a video game where you can just throw everything you’ve preached all week out the window and do a complete 180 on your gameplan. I get it, it’s frustrating, but it doesn’t mean the gameplan against Lsu won’t work perfectly and they have half the yards.

The zone coverage calls were to make AR beat us, and of course he played the game of his life. In my opinion we wasn’t running man, because we didn’t want a reoccurrence of Ole Miss last year. When you are manned up across the board and Db’s are chasing receivers you make it so hard on yourself to stop a running Qb. Everybody in the country all week long continuously said, Make AR beat you with his arm. Well, we ran the defense to force him to do that, and the kid played great. Hell, they have game plans and practice too. Be happy that we are 4-0 and are finding ways to win these games FINALLY.

I love volnation and I love this team, but people need to take a step back sometimes and chill. Enjoy the ride and the process, quit expecting everything to be perfect all the time in this sport. Sorry for the long post, GO VOLS!

Without our best receiver and our offense never missed a step.

I've never seen a Vol offense go up and down the field vs a FL defense like that. It was damn impressive.

The defense was awful. Most of those receivers AR hit were wide F'ing open. They basically weren't even covered. That's on us and that's got to be addressed.

We need to plan on more teams using UF's strategy of always going for it on 4th down. We need to make teams pay for doing that. UF was mostly rewarded for it

or ya know, it’s being realistic about where we are and seeing the progress that’s been made and not raining on peoples parade after a dang Florida win. But whatever. Keep being miserable and telling yourself you just expect more.

Feel free to do whatever the F*** you want to tough guy. The question was asked and the statement was made about why some people aren't basically sobbing with tears of joy because we barely beat a Florida team that is average at best. I gave you the answer. If that hurts your feelings, then so be it.

In years past we lost to Florida teams that are average at best. Remember the Georgia southern game they lost? Yes we lost to that Florida team. Enjoy the win.

If you truly are a Vol fan living up north, maybe you should consider moving down south. Maybe that will help rid you of your "douche bag" demeanor.

Our secondary is awful. They can't tackle. AR played well, but not as well as it looks. Hadden is terrible. Our offense is great though, so we will see if they can win it for us. That said, our LB and DL are both decent.

Last year at this time we were 2-2. We have beaten two teams ranked in the top 25. That's what I call real progress, and all that matters in CFB.
This year we avenged those first 2 losses from last year by beating those same 2 teams. Yes that is real progress. Not criticizing your post. Simply agreeing with it
