I don’t get it……

I do not know why people are upset at all. Those who were expecting a blowout win were just setting themselves up for disappointment. This was going to be a nail biter. You do not go 1-16 against a team and then the table turn in a dime and we blow them out.

I am thankful for the W, being 4-0 heading into a bye week, and moving into the top 10 when the rankings come out.

Of course yardage doesn't matter when you end up with the most points and the win that is all that matters. I think we certainly need to discuss where the defense is and where it needs to go in the next couple of seasons because the ultimate is not to only beat Florida but to have a shot at Bama and Georgia as well. That is why the defense is under the microscope. it is obvious we have a ways to go there to be a team that can beat anybody.

Alabama and Georgia are just a reality we're going to have to accept. They are both absolute juggernauts right now and every other team in the SEC east and west are fighting for that 2nd spot and I think we can be that. We're never going to beat them at their own game. Thats why I'm glad we have an offensive minded coach who's great at scheming up defenses because we're never going to out recruit them. Certainly not enough to dominate them. We just have to hope that we can recruit well enough to compete and have a chance to win in the 4th quarter against them. This also why Im glad the playoff is expanding to 12 teams. I feel like finally we will have a legit shot at getting in.

I don’t get the people who are ready to jump off a cliff because Florida put up some yards and AR had a good game. Every. Single. Game. Is going to be different, teams win in different ways every week. These coaches put in game plans and schemes all week to prepare for what they think will work to slow down the opponent. This isn’t a video game where you can just throw everything you’ve preached all week out the window and do a complete 180 on your gameplan. I get it, it’s frustrating, but it doesn’t mean the gameplan against Lsu won’t work perfectly and they have half the yards.

The zone coverage calls were to make AR beat us, and of course he played the game of his life. In my opinion we wasn’t running man, because we didn’t want a reoccurrence of Ole Miss last year. When you are manned up across the board and Db’s are chasing receivers you make it so hard on yourself to stop a running Qb. Everybody in the country all week long continuously said, Make AR beat you with his arm. Well, we ran the defense to force him to do that, and the kid played great. Hell, they have game plans and practice too. Be happy that we are 4-0 and are finding ways to win these games FINALLY.

I love volnation and I love this team, but people need to take a step back sometimes and chill. Enjoy the ride and the process, quit expecting everything to be perfect all the time in this sport. Sorry for the long post, GO VOLS!
I guess you need to add Tim Irwin to your list.

Here’s my advice. Stop lecturing fans when they express concerns. Those concerns are real. That is NOT your dad’s Gator team. Our defense is NOT progressing. Harden, who seemed to have promise, looked like Burrell in the Purdue game. Florida’s receivers are pedestrian. AR played great because Banks made it so easy on him. Zone, zone, zone and no disguising coverage.

There's a lot of extreme mischaracterization of comments on Volnation following yesterday's game. I don't see a lot of people wanting to fire Heupel (Banks, yes) or saying the program is headed the wrong direction. My concerns from yesterday don't negate the fact that I'm happy with the win or thrilled by Hooker's incredible performance. We have the meat of the schedule in front of us. The Pitt and FL wins were HUGE, but both could have easily been losses because of this team's inability to put a game out of reach. When the outcome is decided by the final possession either in regulation or OT, you are asking for trouble. The "negative" comments are merely reflecting the fact that the defense we've seen so far just isn't going to get Ws consistently.
This team, including this D and it’s coordinator, are 4-0, with two top 25 wins. Some folks cannot see the forest , …….. enjoy being relevant again. We will give LSU fits, and bama the following week. This is a team, playing for one another, their coaches, and the fans. It’s fun again to play for this university and it’s certainly fun to watch. Enjoy this!

We did blitz, a lot actually. I don’t have exact number yet of how many times we brought pressure, but while he threw for a ton of yards he also was only at 54% completion. He threw the ball 44 times with 20 incompletions. Normally I was say that’s a great recipe to blow them out, because of how good our run defense was, but that wasn’t the case today. Kid played good!
I never saw pressure beyond the four down lineman except for a couple plays here and there and those were the plays where he thew the ball wildly hence my saying when you find a weakness exploit it, I think we wanted to play coverage, we wanted to bend but dont break and we hoped he would make mistakes but by the middle of the third quarter if not before I think you can gauge the situation and he was not going to cost them the game without us causing him some discomfort, I think we could have as we did against Pitt but we chose not too.

I think we woulda freaked out and got way more aggressive if our offense had been slow, but they weren’t stopping us at all. I mean, we were up 17 with 10 minutes left. At that point I wouldn’t have changed a thing

Idk where your reading comprehension got that I don’t have concerns and it’s not okay to have concerns? My point is every game is different and there are def things that could be corrected. Take it a game at a time. Winning isn’t easy and we got people always finding things to complain about.

There are many great takeaways from the game: the O line has improved mega and gave Hooker time to get the ball to receivers. Running game good enough to keep them honest. And we got great receivers including tight ends. But I don't think it's whining to call out bad defense and poor clock management

Fair point but I honestly believe had we adjusted our game plan to what they were doing this game would not have been close, Im actually not a Banks hater, I think he is a good coordinator and I loved the game he called against Pitt, I just think we played scared on D and it nearly bit us, there may have been reasons we are not aware of that caused them to play that way but from the outside looking in we could have done alot better with different playcalling.

Even CJH admitted clock management needed to improve

Every time that we play Florida their QB puts up monster numbers. It’s just a given at this point. The difference is, we didn’t lose this time. I’ll take an ugly win any day. We’ve sure been on the other end of it enough. #heupelbless

While I agree our defense isn’t particularly good, lets admit that our scheme last night was to stop the run, and to stop the AR run, and make them beat us throwing the ball. So if AR can throw the ball with accuracy, we are going to give up some yards, and some points. He was really good and he almost beat us throwing the ball. So that’s part of the reason he had 450 passing yards.
Even with his best game by far, it still wasn’t enough.

Some fans projected their desires for a blowout win onto the team, and ran with FL, Napier, & AR are trash, etc.; a few were projecting a loss.
Now they witch that it wasn't a 3-TD blowout or that UT didn't lose; they're complaining because they weren't proven right.

The 'Yabbut...." crowd.

Seems to me that if there isn’t someone, or something, to hate, VN will create imaginary boogeymen out of thin air.

The current boogeyman/whipping boy:

Those are ecstatic to be 4-0, but still like to realistically talk X’s and O’s, pointing out some chinks in the armor.

We have a great defensive class on the way and it’s definitely needed. I know I’m in the minority but I believe our defensive issues are more to do with personnel than scheme. Both are a factor at times of course but it’s more on personnel in my opinion. How Hadden played as much as he did is quite telling as he was horrible yet we left him in. It’s not a surprise though. The defense was decimated after Pruitt was fired. We have some talent but we’re very very thin, especially in the secondary.
Wish we could have used the portal a bit more for the defensive backfield. Maybe there just weren’t that many good options there. I honestly don’t know

“Floridas receivers are pedestrian”

Pearsall - 3 star transfer from Arizona state. Ok. Possibly pedestrian.
Xzavier Henderson - 4 star from Miami, FL
Justin shorter - FIVE star from NJ
Daejon Reynolds - 4 star from GA
Jaquavion Fraziars - 4 star out of Florida
Trent whittemore - 3 star out of Florida
tight end Keon zipperer - 4 star out of Florida.

Stop it. Their WRs aren’t pedestrian.

I agree, when we blitz it generally makes good things happen. Our d-backs need help and I cannot decide if I think we need better players back there or if it is coaching. Maybe it is both.
We should have blitzed all day. Way too much time for UF QB to throw. DB can only defend for so long. We get zero push from our front 4.
