It’s less about the up front money and more about driving home the point and letting other areas of the country feel the impact (long term cost) of what much of their constituents are advocating/voting for. This is a completely unsat policy imposed on these border states and governors by the Biden admin to allow this massive, chaotic inflow of migrants, abrogating normal immigration laws. I’m absolutely fine with letting people come pursue their best life here, but this policy and process is a cluster f*** and the admin act like,
“What? I don’t know…”
