President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

I did not equate it to any tyrants; past or present. That is your own dumb hyperbole - not mine.

I have called it a transparent publicity stunt by DeSantis, aimed at scoring points with his party's base through cheap amusement. It's the kind of political ploy which is sometimes referred to as "owning the libs" on forums such as this.

Ok. Now, trash your daddy Biden for his domestic policy for a wide-open border.
We wouldn't be in this situation if he's not breaking our laws. Biden is killing people & you turn a blind eye to it. Talk about how your daddy Biden is killing americans (300 a day) with all the drugs that he allows to keep coming across our borders. You keep pointing (in every post made by you) how DeSantis is a bad man bc he's a republican & democrats get to polish their halos each morning & never do any terrible things.

Fair enough.

As the VN PF champion of using the description “Far-Right”. I’ll ask you again.

Does the Far-Left exist? And who are they?

My question isn’t entirely to pick a fight. I was recently assigned a Globalization textbook, and the author used the description “Far-Right” over 20 times. Not once in the entire book was the description “Far-Left” used.

You used Far-Right multiple times yesterday before you got pissed at us and signed off. Just curious, who is the Far-Left?

So you mean he’s protecting his citizens, Republican and Democrats. Isn’t that what DeSantis is doing by getting them out of Florida?
I have no problem with those migrants being transported out of Florida. It was sending them to Martha's Vineyard, which was an obvious publicity stunt by Ron DeSantis. In addition to earning brownie points with the Republican Party base, he probably thought it would be a funny way to trigger the liberal elite ... like this is all just a game, for the amusement of Fox News viewers.

You actually have a point here. The gov is a Republican and yes only he can mobilize the NG so the optics are on him. But I’d also guess he doesn’t want a bunch of pissed off wealthy Dems mad at him on MV if they asked for NG and he said no. We will of course never know the answer to that.
You are right. This could put Gov. Charlie Baker in a bit of a spot, from an optics standpoint. I wonder what Baker thinks of his fellow Republican Governor's stunt? I doubt he thinks it was funny.

Funny way or we’ve asked for it to stop and now this is where we are? The amusement for decades has been this isn’t our problem by the NE states watching from a distance. Where is AOC and her camera person? No photo ops at this time to greet?

Oh I don’t know he got to be Gov of MA as a Republican so I’d guess he’s used to meandering a fine line right down the middle and I’d be shocked if he didn’t already have a response ready when he activated the NG

They? Who do you mean by "they?"

If the National Guard was called in, it would be on the order of the Governor of Massachusetts. His name is Charlie Baker. He is a Republican.
Yes. The governor called in the national guard after getting complaints from the wealthiest, most politically powerful residents of his state, homeowners on Martha’s Vineyard.

Governor works for his people. From Florida, AZ, TX to MA. It’s a noble thing.

As I said earlier, I don't think it was a stunt as much as it was to show areas that vote heavily democratic (voters who helped put Biden and his laughable administration in office) and never have to deal with mountains of the poor and desolate what it's like to have a bunch of penny less losers just show up with their hands out wanting help. These same governors need to send some to Aspen and other insulated liberal areas too. Let them have to get their hands a little dirty.

The next president needs to have the stones to shut down the border with the national guard.

I see I have gotten a bunch of replies, I will respond to a few of them. The reality is that there are very few liberals who post here regularly.

It sounds like you only want people to post on the politics forum of VolNation who are in complete agreement with your conservative perspective, which is a big reason that I have lost interest in posting here. You want an echo chamber. Any message board forum, which never features any dissenting viewpoints, and only includes those posters who are in full agreement with each other 100% of the time, is bound to get a little boring after a while. Most people who post to a political forum enjoy some debate among the political discourse. The politics forum on VolNation used to be that way as well. Now, it seems, that posters only come here for affirmation of their already existing opinions. Dissenting views are met with hostility ... and this has become a boring forum.

I will still post in the sports forums. Go Vols!

Even though I agree with what you say as far as discussions from both sides needing to be balanced , weren't you the one that quit Twitter because you thought the right was about to get more say in that hard left leaning echo chamber platform ? 👀

The VP declared :

"We have a secure border in that that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration,”

That lie is a true political stunt

Live by the rules of your book
Exactly!

“Owning the conservatives” by blatantly lying about our border security to the ultimate lapdog of the party, the media that won’t challenge these outright lies.

Wolf in sheeps clothing. Glad this is getting exposed as a photo op of racism and using illegal immigrants as political pawns in their good deed of don’t come back.

You’ve lost interest because you can no longer logically defend the dumb bastard you voted for

That is really not the point. These undocumented immigrants could have just as easily been relocated to Boston, which is a sanctuary city. There is not a designated sanctuary city/town on Martha's Vineyard. So why were they taken there? Because Ron DeSantis thought it would be a clever political ploy and amuse his base. This was a publicity stunt.
You’re missing the whole point of the issue. They want liberals and the media to realize what it’s like to have illegals to deal with and not have the resources with which to do so. They’re also calling out the current admin on the BS that the border is secure.

The best time of all their lives , the rich get to do good and get their pictures taken doing it , the poor get the best weekend of their lives . They should all thank DeSantis. Next week he should send 100 , then double it every week until the rich and powerful start putting the pressure on Congress to make some changes .

There are 3 components to this situation which indicate that the policy of forced migration to Martha's Vineyard is a publicity stunt at its core.

1) It is noteworthy that the Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, is a Republican, and whether or not the state of Massachusetts is a sanctuary state is a little complicated. While there are several policies in place that protect undocumented immigrants, the state itself does not have a sanctuary law in place.

Is Massachusetts a Sanctuary State? Which Are Sanctuary Cities? – NBC Boston

2) Gov. Charlie Baker has been opposed to Massachusetts being a sanctuary state, but has maintained that it should be a matter resolved at the local level.

Baker: Sanctuary city decisions 'best made at local level'

3) In accord with sanctuary status being determined at the local level, there are 8 cities in Massachusetts which do have policies that embrace sanctuary status. However, none of those sanctuary cities or towns are located on Martha's Vineyard.

Those 8 cities are :

Amherst
Boston
Cambridge
Chelsea
Concord
Newton
Northampton
Somerville

This begs the question :

Why did Gov. Ron DeSantis choose to have these undocumented immigrants transported to Martha's Vineyard, rather than one of those 8 cities listed up above? The answer seems obvious : Martha's Vineyard is an island with limited housing and job opportunities, and Gov. DeSantis wanted to be as difficult as possible in making his point, which will undoubtedly be heralded as "owning the libs" among the Republican Party base.

Massachusetts has 8 sanctuary cities and how they cooperate varies

It definitely looks like Gov. Ron DeSantis is going to run for President. He is pandering hard to the far-right.
Tell me you have no clue why Martha’s Vineyard was chosen, by telling me you have no clue why Martha’s Vineyard was chosen.

Lol
