I just love the recency bias we got going on now. We score 34 on the road against a top 20 team, our defense generates 4 sacks, knocks out a starting QB, generates 2 turnovers, while forcing 4 field goals and 2 punts. Outside of two big plays they were as dominate as we've seen them in years.

The offense rolls up 416 yards and only 1 TO. But that's us playing poorly in the Josh Heupel era

In Gump's last season we had just 2 games where we scored 34 or more points, but only held 3 teams to 27 or less points. Only had 416 or more total yards 3 times (once in a loss at Auburn)
In Gump's best season we had just 4 games where we had 416 or more total yards and only scored 34 points or more twice.

I'll take a "poor performance" like we had against Pitt every weekend please and be fine winning by 7 all the way to 15-0!!!

The crazy thing is, you look at the game, the numbers, our recent history, the state of the program, etc., etc., and you can recognize, intellectually, that was a pretty good result for us.

But when you watch the game, you know, intuitively, that we didn’t play well. Not even close to our potential.

And you know, that’s promising.

If we beat one of bama or georgia, we will have a regular season record of 11-1. However, they will both fall to the Vols this year for our regular season record of 12-0. Then, after winning the SECCG against either bama or TAMU, we may even get a rematch against bama or uga in the playoffs to finish the year at 15-0 🤠

Here’s where I am torn. Which would be sweeter? Beating bama 2-3 times in the same season? Beating uga 2 times in the same season? Or being instrumental in keeping both bama and uga out of the playoffs? I vote for the third option. Then we get to not only feast on their misery of no playoffs birth, but also get to whoop up on a couple of non-SEC playoff teams. Thus beginning Tennessee’s true reign of terror…I want Tennessee to get the opportunity to destroy as many different college teams as possible so that there is no doubt.

It would be awesome if TAMU beats bama to keep them out of the SECCG, maybe throw in a loss to auburn or LSU as well…

Same story for uga. How much fun would it be for them to lose to Tennessee, Auburn, and one or both of kentucky and the gators.

Here’s to dreams coming true…🤞🙏😈

But, let’s not look ahead and lose focus. This wee Tennessee plays the Akron Zips. Time to get into game mode. Rev up the Maxims!

Where did you get this

Anyone else wondering if/when the Florida realists will show up?

In every year prior, a few of the same folks reliably roll through a week or two before the Florida game to remind us how silly our hope is. And they have been quite more than right considering the scoreboard since 2017...2016.

Iirc it is usually @bignewt with a "don't do this to yourselves", maybe @nicksjuzunk with a good ole "Oh No Baby What Is You Doin?", and a couple others.

Or is everyone on board with unfettered optimism against Florida this year?

Hey Im at least entertaining the idea of dropping $300 plus on a ticket to attend the game. I havent thought about attending the Florida game for a long while because I hate them so damn much that seeing them beat us in person would shatter my soul.

Given that, I hate all the hype, the checkering, the former players showing up, the recruit visits, the alt jerseys. One thing that we know from history is the more hype, the worse the on field performance. The team gets tight, tentative and FL plays loose and whips dat ass.

Why cant we just treat it as a normal game? A TCB kinda mentality? Stop giving florida the special attention. That is when we will know we are back.

Hold up. You expect us to believe you have a soul??

The best thing Heupel and co. can do for the team before this year's UF game is to keep the team loose. I just imagine every coach since Kiffin has probably pulled their best Herb Brooks in the locker room trying to hype everyone up and it backfires because they feel the pressure and play scared. Just pretend they are wearing South Carolina uniforms and we win easily.

I for one want a wide open playbook or at least 2/3 of the playbook against Akron. That would give many more wrinkles for our future opponents to worry about. One problem with a vanilla offensive game plan is that the defensive coordinator can essentially take those plays out of your playbook because they know how you set up to run them. I want to baffle the ever living sh1t out of the defensive coordinators. Every game give them another wrinkle to worry about to the point where they are just blubbering masses of ineptitude by the time our offense takes the field against their team. 😈

They can’t afford them since it’s all spent on Meth, Cigarettes, and Chewing Tobacco. Food Stamps don’t cover Sports Tickets.
I used to work with a guy who would buy food stamps (back when they were paper) in front of the piggly wiggly for 50 cents on the dollar. So the person on “assistance” was getting cash for drugs and alcohol, and he was getting groceries half price.
