The Athletic must love us, they know we won’t pay to hear what Ubben has to say…

Honorable mention: Tennessee

Kentucky wasn’t the only team to go on the road and beat a Top 20 team. Josh Heupel’s first top-25 matchup at Tennessee ended with “Rocky Top” blaring and the Vols celebrating their 34-27 overtime victory in the end zone with the fans who made the trip to Pittsburgh.

I sell cigarettes to children.

Heupel’s team did not play particularly well and caught a few breaks in the form of a Kedon Slovisinjury and two Pitt missed field goals in the second half, but Tennessee did get off the mat after falling behind 10-0. This is the kind of game Tennessee hadn’t won in a long time. Kentucky and Florida will be big challenges for Tennessee in the division, but if the Vols were going to enjoy a breakout season with all the continuity and offensive explosiveness under Heupel, this was a game it had to win.

He is arrogant. I guess he did flatter you. It's a special combo. I know that any claim about how the sun looks without stipulating conditions shows that he doesn't understand what science is. Yes. Is the world scientific community in an uproar at the wholly novel news today?

I admit I don’t understand what you’re saying sometimes. How did he flatter me? What combo?

And again I’m not sure how/why you think an astronaut wouldn’t know facts about space and what it looks like.

I really hope you’re right. I think he will be just as good if not better than Nico. Nico may be a better pro prospect, but I think Madden will fit the offense better because of his agility and running ability

I hope JH and the staff is recruiting him hard right now. From the few times I have seen him throw, he looks to have similar arm talent to Nico. I think he has a good chance to become one of the best QBs in the 2025 class.

When I watch Iowa’s current offense, I’m reminded of Randy Sanders offense at UT in the late 90s and early 00s. It was effective then. But watching Iowa now, it’s easily contained when opposing defenses match the physicality in the trenches and can predict the plays at the LOS.

If Ferentz would become innovative and force his son to step down or take a lesser role and hire a modern OC, Iowa would realize it’s potential. He arguably has the best tenured DC in CFB with Phil Parker. Get a serviceable offense and Iowa wins 9 games minimum every year in that division.

Anyone else wondering if/when the Florida realists will show up?

In every year prior, a few of the same folks reliably roll through a week or two before the Florida game to remind us how silly our hope is. And they have been quite more than right considering the scoreboard since 2017...2016.

Iirc it is usually @bignewt with a "don't do this to yourselves", maybe @nicksjuzunk with a good ole "Oh No Baby What Is You Doin?", and a couple others.

Or is everyone on board with unfettered optimism against Florida this year?

This year feels a little different. I've checked a few UF boards and they really aren't talking about the game much. I'm sure most of their fans are still confident. I would be. It's like us never really feeling threatened by Kentucky regardless of what they are ranked or have done up to that point in the season.

Anybody ever been the the Greenbriar restaurant in Gatlinburg? I've always wanted to try it because the steaks/lamb are supposed to be awesome, but it's pricey
Been there a couple of times the past 2 yrs. Food is good but pricey. The two times I have been the atmosphere was just "meh" level at best. Speaking of Gatlinberg, we have stayed 4 or 5 times in a cabin that the late great Bobby Denton built and is now owned by a family friend. He told me a month ago he is seriously considering selling it now. I like walking the strip in downtown Gatlinbergf but personally I liked it much greater 20-25 yrs ago. A lot of the local craftspeople have been pushed out of that area and I just feel it has lost some of that charm.

The strip area of the parkway feels like Myrtle Beach: The Mountains. I loved going as a kid, but it has definitely become a bad blend of kitsch and corporate.

I didn't realize that Akron had a mobile QB. Hope he is similar to AR. It would be the perfect time to practice containment D. Maybe their offenses are similar enough that the UF game plan can be tweaked and used on Akron. It ould be great to have a solid 2 weeks to game plan against UF.
I’m a bit confused. I thought the mobile starter was injured and we were getting a statue back there
