You just suggested to possibly bench our QB that I believe has thrown 35 TD’s to 3 INT’s in his Tennessee career…think about that for just a second.

In no way did I suggest benching our QB, I simply said we should give Milton a chance to go out and see what he can do... LOL...

all the pressures we got on the QB would have been great except for the fact that he still completed over 85% of those passes... Our secondary did not step up in those instances...

I think one thing that is slightly overlooked about last night’s game is that even with how many throws Hooker missed and how he continues to have some rust….he still took care of the football. His football IQ does not get enough credit. Our OL was porous a lot of the night and he took some big hits and didn’t fumble. He also continues to rarely ever throw a pass that can be picked off. After 4 years of JG, I have come to really appreciate the small things like that.

I get the Hooker complaints but then you look and see he’s completed 67.2% of passes on the year. And as pointed out he’s on track to throw for 3,500 yards.

I guess it’s a combination of sky high expectations for him and a few memorable bad throws. But he’s actually been very solid to very good thus far.
It seemed like he got his deep ball dialed in a bit after 1-2 early overthrows. Got Bru deep and Tillman dropped a perfect deep ball.

It will be interesting to see if/how high Texas is ranked.

If Bama had missed the fg at the end, they'd shoot up to #5. Instead they'll probably be no higher than 15-20th, if that.

Ofc there's the question of Ewers, but don't think voters have ever prepenalized teams based on presumed injuries.

Coach Narduzzi is a defensive strategist the level of which Tennessee may not run into again this season. I just hope that the Offense was having an off night. I also hope that the blueprint for handling our offense wasn’t shown this game. The “defensive coaches “ in the SEC are used to being able to out talent the opponents. I think that we will have the upper hand in most games this season.

On different note, bama is vulnerable. Texas’s defense is not better than Tennessee’s defense.

15-0 🤠

While I agree….I do wonder when defenses will start to catch up to these 5-wide/up-tempo offenses. I lived thru the wishbone and the veer and everyone said no one would figure those out. They did.

This is the first team we played that we played last year. I was concerned about the 2/3/4th quarters last year and was it adjustments or was is lack of depth on our part?? We will be playing teams with even better athletes than we saw yesterday. I trust this staff will figure it out and will have a plan in place.

Just my thoughts…..

Hooker reminds me a bit of a better Connor Shaw, who I think is one of the most underrated SEC QBs in a very long time. Guy threw one pick his senior season (2013) and it was against us.

67% of his passes with 4 TD and 0 INT. His “rust” still has him at 21st QBR in the entire country.

Winning a big game like this is huge for a lot of reasons, but it's also nice, as a fan, to just enjoy a good win for a couple of weeks.

How many times have we lost that game? We know how those seasons go. We are forgotten about for a stretch of the season or have to scratch and claw to 6 or 7 wins. The whole time being the butt of the joke or having to deal with national media or b-team broadcasters write us off or half-ass call our games.

Only a few times since Fulmer have we started out on the right foot with a statement win and our goals still within reach.

Pitt was trying to define us too and set our identity. You heard them calling us pretty. If they won that game Narduzzi would have some postgame punchline about us being the pretty team, and then the stupid media would have ran with it and we'd hear how soft we are all season.

Instead, we beat the hell out of them. I do hope their QB(s) is/are ok, but they called us soft and found out the hard way.

We found a way to win and we are still a dangerous team with a potent offense that can put anyone on their heels. Our defense just showed growth as well. Our special teams has a coach that won't let them do what they did last night again.

It was tough to get through but we have something to smile about for a couple of weeks, while we can watch everyone else deal with their individual crises.

My take is we didn’t play great on offense most of the game, couldn’t run the ball like we wanted, but that defense on the other side was very good. Pitt is deserving of being ranked, that’s a good football team, well coached.

We played very well on defense. I was watching the game with my dad and all first half I kept saying to him with all these shots that QB is taking he’s not going to make it the whole game. Beasley is a stud.

I think it was just one of those games where things just didn’t go our way a lot of the time. But we still found a way to win.

Just imagine if some of those well thrown balls weren’t dropped. Imagine if those tipped passes by the D were INT’s, maybe a pick 6 or two. Imagine we blocked the guy so he didn’t block the punt. Would have been the blowout we all wanted. But at the end of the day we still won. We beat a good football team on the road. We’re 2-0. I slept well last night. GBO!

Yep, he had very little time in quite a few plays. I just don’t understand why we always do this. I know we should strive for perfection. But we have been wandering in the wilderness for a few years (some say, 15); we have an exciting offense; a team that is now in every game; a QB who has improved, and yet we get lost in criticism.
Because we get too high and suddenly expect domination. Even in a closely matched road ranked game where we finished as a 5 pt favorite pregame.

But no...that just means we HAVE to play like 4 td winners or else we stink 😒 No way we can just win by 7 in tough fashion, in a game that was predicted to be a battle...

Sometimes I wonder if some of you played sports. In sports sh*t happens, the fact I see people on here doubting Hooker is mind blowing to me. Is he supposed to complete every pass?

We have to get protections on punts rectified right away. Ball State should have had a blocked punt against us and Pitt succeeded.

If you didn't see any of the Kentucky game you would be impressed with their win. However they didn't play that well, Florida was on the verge of winning big until AR decided to throw to Kentucky in the 2nd half. We won't do that and I'm even more sure we handle Kensucky after watching that game.

Lastly has anyone seen Jaws? Last week after they beat Utah he immediately and I do mean immediately after their game he showed up in the insane FF in a thread titled Is Florida better than we thought. Probably didn't rush over last night!

Like this perspective.

Though not quite as high on the defense. There were positives and we looked great vs the backup. But we do forget the H1 yards allowed quickly too. All 300 of them. Now, hats off to our pressure that (in a roundabout way) ended up helping us win. But if we face a full game of a Slovis-equivalent qb, that is worrisome. Now, we may only face 3 more QBs/passing offenses that good and 2 are already expected losses, so maybe it's a moot point as long as we can take care of business vs the other 75% of QBs we face.
